We found ourselves in an interesting situation this month because The CreepyPasta Collab is technically original material but it’s also a large community collab and was released on October 31st for the Halloween Spooktacular, missing the cutoff for the Best of October voting. It’s a really impressive project though so it will still be receiving $300.

However we’re also giving $300 to Infinite Tree Pinball and Underage Driving because we loved them so much this month. Congrats @jebouin and @ThePeterson!

Closing Thoughts

That ENA episode was a masterpiece. No other words, just a masterpiece.

Yet another good month. Good stuff as always. But somtimes im qurius: how do you make theese monthly recaps? Genuanly, i want to know.

November 2023 had many Top Notch submissions.

The movie and game winners come from the monthly voting process, then for art and audio I revisit everything that was featured from the past month and pick out highlights - it's not a perfect process but nothing like that ever really could be. At some point in the future we might have monthly voting for art and audio, which will be interesting to see how that turns out when the time comes.

Monthly art and audio voting woud be somthing. Yeah, i am quirus of how it woud work if (or when) you woud do that.

Not sure if monthly rewards would come with monthly awards for audio/art, but I suspect they probably won't, at least at first.

They would start small, maybe something for the #1 art and #1 audio, or a small amount for the top five of each, with the potential to grow if Supporters grow. I was hoping to expand Movie and Game cash prize tiers to ten in each category by the end of this year but we haven't been able to get there.

Congratulations to all of the game devs who delivered another round of solid games this month! I had a blast with Infinite Tree Pinball (once I got used to the controls, ha) and Underage Driving blew my mind with that perspective change mechanic, so I'm glad to see those up there! Likewise, I was really impressed with both art collabs (Creepypasta and Fishing) this month as they went above and beyond in creating entire games to showcase their art: really creative stuff!

My top pick this month had to be Lost in Lampyrid Fog from @Ferociter, who really has a knack for creating these cryptic puzzle adventures! As for the rest of my picks, you can always check them out on my news post.

While we're talking about games, don't forget to show some love to the recent release of Picayune Dreams from @Stepford, @Andyl4nd and @milkypossum! At just 5 bucks, it's a steal, and the vibes are a breath of fresh air in this overcrowded world of Survivors-likes! I've already bought it and beaten it once and you better believe I'm going in for more runs!

Don't tell me that Plumer quest is a runner-up, it should be in the top 5. Anyways, congrats everyone.

BridgeKids is underrated entertainment and should have won.

Admittedly I'm not a fan of most things on Newgrounds, so I should probably give the one that won #1 for november, another shot.

Its an absolute honor to see the Creepypasta Collab game winning best game of the month! Also as a MASSIVE ENA fan its amazing to see the new episode win best movie! Power of Potluck is probably my favorite ENA episode so far.

My understanding is that the nominees list is supposed to be comprised of every submission during the month that received any award. If that's incorrect, then please ignore this message. But if that's correct, there's definitely a bug in the system.

There were 23 games in the nominee list this month, and 45 movies. That's a total of 68 nominees. But a minimum of 5 submissions get awards every day, so if the nominees list is supposed to be all submissions that won an award, there should be a minimum of 150 nominees in a month that has 30 days.

I suspect what's going on here is that the list is only getting populated with frontpaged submissions. This submission won daily first but wasn't frontpaged and it didn't show up in the list, so that supports my theory:

(Not saying I would've voted for this particular submission, just saying this proves that not every submission that wins an award gets on the nominees list)

It does currently pull from the feature submissions. When we overhaul the system we will likely include the option to pull in entries you personally favorited or scored highly, which will open things up more.
