If you come across this, you may be wondering; how could someone make an animated series on such limited hardware as the Nintendo 3DS? Well, that's where I come into the conversation. for 2 years I have been working on an animated series on my YouTube channel and NewGrounds account it is called "FATMAN" and you might have watched it before, I'll give you a basic description; FATMAN is a large superhero that protects the city from villains like skinny man and Ronald Wacdonald, while trying not to be a try hard of Batman. His favorite thing to do is go to Wacdonalds and stuff.
now for such limited hardware as a 3DS it might seem impossible, right? especially since I used inchworm animation as the animation software which was built to run on the OG DS which is hardware from as early as 2004. the space in inchworm animation is up to 88 blocks, and most animations can only go up to a minute before running out of space. so what i did as a workaround was I made a minute of footage per file, exported it to my SD card, ran the SWF file on my computer and then edit that footage, I did this process for a whole year and 4 months to get 26 episodes that go for 5 minutes each, (one of them goes for 11 minutes) so after all that, I now have 2 animated seasons worth of content to watch.
I am currently taking a break from animating, although I will do more next year. I hope this will inspire you to make your own indie animated web series. YOU need motivation before you can start though. if it's for money or fame then you will not get far. my motivation is my love for animation and just being a creative person in general. You can achieve your goals if you work hard enough.
if you want to watch my series then you watch them here FATMAN SEASON 2 (newgrounds.com) (I recommend you watch season 2 because season 1 isn't that good)
