Haven't everybody added yet, need one more kart to help keep track of routes, it's stupid and complicated, don't worry about it. Did all the extra bells and whistles though so might as well get your opinions on what else could be added, changed, etc.
I have extremely limited programming experience, so feel free to openly reject my suggestion. Maybe there could be a "Start Race" option, where all the drivers line up at a point and drive around a predetermined route. The speed they travel could increase/decrease at random intervals so drivers pull ahead/fall behind. Players could influence the outcome of the race by dropping or throwing items, e.g. banana peels or the equivalent of a green shell in Mario Kart. Or to just cause chaos. Whoever crosses the line first (probably just one lap to keep it simple) opens up their info window like in the Garage... maybe with a little fanfare too. I could understand how, when we have more submissions, this could cause some problems, especially if the track itself is somewhat small for the number of drivers. Figured I'd throw in my two cents anyway lol
This was a fun little preview, I'm looking forward to seeing it finished!
As for gamifying it, maybe we just make an actual game when all is said and done here. I hate racing games so I'd turn it into a battle royale like I do with everything else. Although the extra speed and collision physics, as well as the thought of having to find a weapon every time you want to attack, is already starting to piss me off!
Maybe we pass it on to somebody else to make an actual game when all is said and done here.
I could try coding it. I know the basics on how to code in godot 3.
(for the record, I was super lazy to draw a car...)

As demonstrated by this expertly illustrated concept, the mission is as follows.
Draw your character in a go kart* from the front, back and side(s). I'll then program them to drive around. It will be an interactive visualiser type thing like The Coglab and/or an animated gif like The Coglab. Either way, I'll do it properly (and do a better job of maintaining their speed regardless of what direction their pointing for example) unlike Mario here. Might actually keep the crappy playmat background though, it's amusing to me. Unless somebody wants to offer an alternative of course.
-Deadline is 20th May 2024 (but can be extended if needed).
-Pics should be transparent pngs of at least 600 x 600px.
-OR if you're drawing them in flash, just send the fla and the above can be disregarded.
-Provide a file dump, google drive, etc. link so pngs don't lose quality and flash files are... actually possible to send.
-Again, we'll need a front, back and side pic.
-A second side pic might be required if it can't just be flipped. For example if there's writing on it, character has an eyepatch, etc.
-Extra frames of animation can be included for wheel movement or whatever you like and I'll implement them.
*It doesn't HAVE to be a go kart but the above will obviously be mandatory if you want to do something like Sonic the Hedgehog running around the track.
-Let me know first if you want to do a track instead. Can do a few and implement a course selector but sixty tracks with one kart wouldn't be much use!
Just checking other collabs for what I might've forgot to mention. I don't think I have to say NO AI ART. Any other questions, let me know below.

this looks cool cooking up something for it
This seems awesome and i'd try to join if i can!
Also question, how many entries can i submit?
wait how do I submit my drawings? a google doc or something else??
I shoved my boy's (Sain) files into a zip (added small wheel movement, its the little things), but otherwise I also made him spin to show off here.
I was also contemplating something to test in Godot, so this was a fun incentive overall, something different than my usual too.
ZIP: https://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/b2587e5c2c381afb463d8282d34f772a
The lad should be a 600x600 on each file.

You can submit a .PNG file to Google drive and share the link

Cheers, Jon. Coincidentally the last guy was also Jonathan. The last guy in the kart but whatever.
It's done~!
Here's the submission within a .zip file. And here's a link to the stuff as an art submission for anyone who's interested below this text.
