Closing Thoughts

What a spectacular month all around, with so many strong entries! It was great to see the return of @RedMinus and an appearance by @PaulRobertson, like seeing a unicorn in the wild. 

Between the Flash Forward Jam and Ludum Dare 55, there were many games to enjoy this month.

The Art Inspired Music contest birthed a lot of great new music and isn’t over yet! We also enjoyed The Space Collab.

The Art Portal as usual is bustling non-stop with talent and cool things to see. It’s cool to see @psychicpebbles and @MichaelCusack make it big on television with Smiling Friends and then see characters like Gwimbly celebrated here on NG.

April was capped off with the long-awaited Friday Night Funkin’ update, introducing Weekend 1, Erect Mode songs and a general overhaul to the entire game, with more to come. A big end to a big month!

There’s no sign of things slowing down in May, with Pico Day on May 18th and two meetups:

I can’t make it to Ireland but I hope to see a lot of you in Jersey!

Congratulations to all of the winners, and thank you very much to all the devs for delivering a bunch of great games this month as usual!

This month was definitely a doozy (40 entries!) and very difficult for me to judge as loads of the games were game jams or demos which always makes me unsure how to evaluate them equally (but boy are they fun nonetheless!)

Looking at your picks, I'm very happy to see Homecoming get some recognition at the top as I was unsure how people would feel considering how short, experimental and movie-like it is, and I'm also happy to see 2-Bit Explorer get some love as I feel it and its prequel 1-Bit Explorer were slept on, being very impressively deep and content-rich games!

As usual, I've got my top 10 and honorable mentions on my news page here if you want to check them out: so many quality games!

No time to rest, though: now I gotta get back and check out all those Flash Forward entries!
