I think about this sometimes and I'd like to get more input on it. Assuming this person has absolutely bare bone knowledge on fighting games, how would you go about teaching them and what game would be the catalyst

Fighting games are pretty neat, but I can understand that they can be daunting to get into. Epically when you're on you own trying to figure everything out

The best way to learn is to play against a good player who is willing to teach you.

I played Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, etc. for years and I never really obtained a high skill level

But after getting a friend online who would patiently destroy me in Injustice 2, and point out my flaws, my skill level ramped up fast.

I now destroy people regularly online with niche lower-tier characters like Gorilla Grodd, Raiden, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

And these skills carry across games

But you don't *need* to do that, unless you want online play. Single player skill can be obtained just by playing matches and hitting the practice room. Just take a look at your movelist.

No pods, no casters

I am not sure of your expertise or confidence but I am guessing a beginner. The is likely command list and a training mode to help you figure what that character does. Here are some tips.

  • Learn your character's movement and speed.
  • Try double tap forward or backward than use the attack buttons, Then back forward and one of the attack buttons. You may need to do this quickly
  • try a couple circle motions on the movement along with one of the attack buttons.
  • Learn how to sweep or attack low. This may help when your opponent is blocking.
  • You opponent will figure out how you fight if you are too predictable.

I heard they making them more simpler. Do not take it as an insult as you likely want to known what makes each character unique and you more likely just wanting to prepare what you opponent will do with that character.
