Regarding the files being "safe", as long as they don't need administrator rights to run, they should be pretty safe. Sure you can be a prick and write a code that deletes most of the user's personal files without affecting the underlying operating system (as that doesn't require admin privileges). But I assume most people that share their games aren't such pricks.
2. You need to accept that these things do happen, but also you need to understand that it's not as bad as you might think it is. Legally speaking, you can sue them to the ground as you most likely have a bunch of evidence that you were the one who made the thing that they took credit for. But I doubt you'll have to go that far as you could very easily contact the platform (like Newgrounds or Itch.io) and after explaining the situation have the fraud be dealt with.

2. I believe you can upload your game to Newgrounds without publishing it and invite others "privately" to test it. At least I can do so with audio.
