On Steam; I look the ratings, and if it says "Overwhelmingly Positive," that’s when I know the game has a lot of potential. I think people should consider whether the game is right for them; just because it says "Overwhelmingly Positive" doesn’t guarantee that you’ll like it.

I primarily get my gaming recommendations from SsethTzeentach. What amazes me is how he presents the best aspects of each game and communicates their positive qualities. Through his reviews, I've discovered games that I absolutely enjoy!

Age of Wonders, SYNTHETIK, STALKER, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, Mount and Blade, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Starsector, Underrail, Caves of Qud, Deus Ex, RimWorld, and NEO Scavenger.

I enjoyed Starsector and Mount and Blade, including Warband and Bannerlord. I also liked With Fire and Sword, and there is a mod for Warband that has a Warhammer Fantasy theme, which is a really nice.

My favorites have been Kenshi and STALKER.

Steam has a very cool system of recommending games, but not only that, also tools, as i for myself stopped playing games quite some time ago, since then I'm only testing my or games or friends, mostly working on one of my various wip games :D

but i proudly can say i own nearly every game maker, engine or other useful tool on steam :D

other than that i can really recomment itch.io as you can find a lot of great games there, which are mostly free to play as well, which is quite cool :) also i advice everyone that itch is currently running a helloween sale with a lot of discounts :)

best regards

Is it just me or has SeethTzeentach's content kinda grown bad? I remember I loved rewatching neoscavenger and caves of qud but now none of his new content is worth rewatching anymore.

I can usually tell wether I will like a game just by looking at no-commentary footage. If I'm unsure I will read negative steam reviews to see if there are actual concerns or if it's just people taking the piss. Game journalism is too heavily compromised when it comes to AAA games, but I have long since stopped playing those anyways.

I played this as a kid, Sseths video actually reminded me that it exists so I grabbed it along with M&M6 on GOG. That was genuinely the most fun I had in a while.

Videos I watch, indie devs on Twitter (or now Bluesky), happenstance, recommendations, premises that draw me on or that I have been searching for. Or, sometimes, I just stumble upon something and give it a shot, like Supraland or Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

Personal gaming experience, surfing on the net, videos, etc. etc.

Mostly folks on Youtube.

  • AlphaBetaGamer Posts a lot of no commentary footage of what is usually small profile indie games.
  • MandaloreGaming has pretty in depth videos with really dry humor throughout the videos.
  • Civvie11 does videos on FPS games, usually older ones, but occasionally also does videos on other games.

I feel the same way about the Angry Video Game Nerd. I really enjoy his older videos because of the nostalgia.

Overall, I respect his work ethic and the contributions he and Mike Matei made to the angry review genre. Reviews wouldn’t be the same without them.

Super thank you to Kyle Justin! For creating the theme song it is the best reviewer theme.

Awesome! What is up with AAA titles these days? The last ones I played were Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, and now I realize that was a long time ago.

Age of Wonders Shadow Magic is my favorite.

I full agree, all three are really good.

It got too corporate, so you have people with no development background calling the shots and talented people withholding their best ideas. Fatal combination.

RDR2 and C2077 are both pretty old now hah, my last one was Elden Ring and I hesitate to call it AAA since that term has such a negative connotation now.

Age of Wonders Shadow Magic is my favorite.

I also found Shadow to be the most fun. I always ran Fire/Shadow and sometimes Air (I think there was some movement speed spell?). Your hero could get so powerful, finding the best cheese was very fun.

You're right.

It is so fucking baffling.

I am so mad that AAA titles are essentially being released as early access, requiring numerous patches to become actually playable. It infuriates me to such an insane extent. I remember a time when you could go to a store, buy a game, and own it without needing constant updates to make it functional; it was finished.

There was a time when people sold playable games.

They're all really good. Perhaps I'm going crazy, I think that good triple-A titles are few and far between now.

I primarily play indie games or classic games.

I find it very satisfying that you can craft items and create powerful heroes.
