Everquest 2: Worth playing!

Holy god damned good games. This game is Grade - A! WOWOWOW. I have never had this much fun playing a game... EVER! The combat system is a mix of DAOC and AO with a twist of EQ in it. The combat wheel makes the game so fucking awesome.

I nut myself everytime I swing my staff.

I give this game a 10/10.

Story: This game has a story, and a rather good one at that. Contrary to popular belief, MMORPG's can have stories. While you can choose to not be a part of it, THIS STORY IS WORTH BEING A PART OF. The gods have left Norrath and some big earth-shattering event happened that made the world split into lots of islands. What this event was and how it came about happening is a mystery THUS FAR.

There is now a war raging between the two major towns: Qeynos and Freeport.

Gameplay: I give the gameplay three F's. Fast. Fierce. Fun. Words can't describe how nut-breakingly fast and awesome the combat system is. Everyclass can solo to the point were groups aren't needed (unlike EQ and most MMORPG's) and downtime is not an issue. Currently, I have a 13 Brawler (will be a monk at 20) who can kill about 2-3 mobs, sit for 10 seconds, and fight another 2-3 mobs. The issue of downtime is resolved by bread and water giving you a 30 minute health and mana (called power now) regen buff. However, I have 23 hours (84934 seconds at the time of this typing) fighting and have only amounted to being level 13.

The tutorial and Island of Refuge has great info, items, and all around a great place for new people to go.

Graphics: Best. Graphics. Ever. The only game that can even contest to its graphics would be Half-Life 2. Right now, I can run the game smoothly on one graphic setting under medium (there are 7 total) smoothly. I have a very good computer (3 gigz, 1 gig of ram, Radeon 9800 Pro) and I can run UT2004 smoothly on the highest graphical settings with 32 players on the biggest maps.

That is how graphic intensive EQ2 is.

Sound: Best. Sound in a game. Ever. The music is ALL orchestral. It adds a GIGANTIC depth to the game that makes it appear more movie like than it allready is. The combat sounds are also fan-fucking-tastic. It makes me cringe whenever I hear what sounds like a bone break. I will not forget the voices though as 90% of the NPC's (non player characters) have voices. The other 10% are either just there to add depth to the game, guards, or mobs like rats.

This game is a DEFINITE buy if you are either a fan of EQ, MMORPG's, fantasy games, or just looking for a SUPREME waste of time.

I advise you all to buy this and join me on the server Kithicor. My names Yinmaren.

Yinmaren, 13 Brawler, Qeynos.

OMG noob, use teh SEARCH BAR!
Seriously though, nice review. The game is looking better and better in my eyes. Luckily, I can't get it (vid card = poo), or else my university studies would die, and i'd lose a bunch of money.

But I am going to show this review to my friend. If he gets it, my studies may implode anyway.

13 paragraphs. You love EQ2.

Have you tried putting the graphics quality to high? Oh and how much is the monthly fee?

Response to Everquest 2: Worth playing! Nov 13, 2004

Online RPGs give you murderous rage. So do not grab a copy of this game.

Up to your pro-mmorpg-antics again, aye Crimson? =)

I must lollerskate on this matter.

Yes. It was the first thing I did.. thinking my computer could handle it. Whenever you hover over the top graphic setting it says: WARNING! There are no computers on the market that can handle these graphical settings. The one below that said very few and the one below that said not many and the one below that said about a third and the one below that said half.. and so on.

15 bucks a month.

Ick. My friend has a 3.4Ghz HT, and 1.5 Gigs o RAM.
Plus a pretty shibby Video Card, I forget what type though. He paid a lot for his machine. Think he could handle medium?

15 bucks a month.

American, right?

Very MMORPG. Earlier today, there were 100 people in Antonica (each zone is instanced more than once.. I was in Antonica 2). Loads of people to group with. The looking for group list is in the 20's currently.

b)cost per month (specify units)

$15 American dollars a month.

c)are there battlemages? specify class

Hmm. Well, this is whats so fun about melee combat in EQ2. EVERY CLASS HAS SPECIAL ABILITIES THEY RECIEVE A LEVEL! My Brawler has group buffs, self buffs, lots of dmg'ng things, and a taunt. They use mana.

So.. all classes are battlemages in a sense. Also, all casters can cast while being hit. Their chances of the spell working are lowered, but it is a possibility.

Shadowknights and Paladins are the main tanks that actually cast spells. Troubadours and Dirges are the bards of EQ2. All priest classes can take afew hits... so those are your best bet for an actual battlemage.

Last post. Going back into EQ2 =P.

Possibly. It was choppy for me.. one under medium is smooth.

THERE IS HARDLY ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MY SETTING AND ONE UNDER MEDIUM! The graphics are FANTASTIC on my setting. Best graphics in a game and it isn't even on the highest.

American, right?

Yes.

Yeah... but,

is it a good way to meet girls?

I've been on Diablo 2 for like the past month and no hits.

Well, I have more news about this fan-fucking-tastic game: It kicks more ass. Yesterday my Cousin Eric got his computer and EQ2 and he made a new character.. a Barbarian Fighter (Crusader now.. will be Shadowknight). I made an Ogre Scout (Bard now.. will be Troubadour). My family made a set of new chars as well.

The combat wheel is the best thing in any game. Ever. Better than any story, graphic, gameplay element, anything. It. Makes. Me. Cum.

What it is is this: Someone starts the wheel by doing a certain move. The other people in the group have to match up the symbols by the symbols of their move (in a sense) and it does LOTS of different things. Group heals, group buffs, awesome damage, AOE dmg, etc.

It adds STRATEGY to group gameplay.

Screeny of big ass claymore.

Negative. I tried GW out. Not anywere near as expansive, fun, or difficult as EQ2.

Wut? WoW and EQ2 are two completely different types of MMORPG's. WoW is for the casual gamer or WC fan. EQ2 is for a die-hard MMORPG fan/fantasy lover.

The story for EQ2 is fan-fucking-tastic. God deception, mortals conquering immortals, etc.

Wut? It took me afew minutes to decipher this.

1. EQ2 is nothing like EQ. Shut the fuck up and do some research before making completely retarded statements like the above.

2. If Wow Does not have a monthly fee then the game will have the following:
A. Shitty online service.
B. Patches will take about as long to come about as Diablo 2 patches.
C. The servers will be down ALOT/be EXTREMELY laggy unless they make people use their computers to support themselves+other people causing 56k players to be completely overwhelmed in lag and go LD.
D. Nothing new would happen.

I have spent over 24 total playing hours on my monk and he is only level 13. In WoW, the same character would be 20. The leveling in WoW is alittle less than twice as fast in WoW. This means that the end game will be achieved faster, people will become bored when no new material is released after people become 50 in 6 months and spend the next 6 months beating the end game. Power gamers will leave the game in about 7 months.

WoW will lose customers if there is no P2P. Why? Because Blizzard can not pay the costs to maintain multiple servers with as many people that are going to play WoW without there being a cost.

C. Lack of content=Lack of players.

The game isn't even a week old yet =P. It should be there within the next two weeks if it is infact going to be in stores there. If you want to play the game, you can order it online at www.everquest2.com.

I wouldn't see why EQ2 wouldn't support Aus (Australia right?) seeing as how the servers can be played from anywere. People from Asia to Alaska to Chile' to South Africa are playing EQ2... I don't see why an Aussie couldn't play it.

In other words, they haven't said anything about there being a country restriction.
