It's really hard to see how good either of them are, because a lot of their fame is about image, so it's hard to sift between the actual talent and songwriting ability, and the hype. It's sorta like trying to tell if this dude is high when he's obviously exaggerating it. You just can't tell how high he actually is.
Now, if u r like me, then you listen to music that has zero chance of being played on the radio. Then you will have a clear idea of how good they are.

What irks me the most about both bands, is that everybody seems to think they are metal. They're not. They are hard rock. Cannibal Corpse, now that's metal. Ulver, now that's metal. Black Label Society, now that's metal. Slayer, now that's metal. But GNR and Motley crue aren't metal.

ok first of all Sweet Child of mine is only cool because of the solo section. but with a name like that, I dont think it can beat a song named Shout At The Devil or Girls, girls, girls. 1) MC isn't harddcore. They are acting hardcore to try and make themselfs popular. I have a video tape of one of the new concerts and they are totall pussies now, like GNR, maybe even worse. Once the metal era ended and it wasn't what sold anymore, they quite the whole "hardcore" thing.

I would have to say that Guns n Roses Would be my choice..They produced some very timeless peices and great albums..Motley crew is also good..I just cant see them comparing to GnR
