You guys are fine. Most nations have double-didget budgets for the military (10-15 billion). The amount of money the United States spends on the military is pant-shittingly outstanding.

If you even so much as "think" of cutting that budget down congress will nail your ass to the unpatriotic-cross.

World Military Spending Chart

I must lollerskate on this matter.

Canada's army is fine, it's small and well organized. They don't need a large army like the United States, anyways, you guys get free healthcare, probably because of that.

NO WE DO NOT GET FREE HEALTHCARE
Some pay for thier healthcare through higher provincial taxes, others pay straight out of pocket for it. I pay $1356 a year (3 people) for healthcare in British Columbia. Please oh please point me to this "free healthcare" you speak of.

Injured Workers rights were taken away in the 1920's by an insurance company (WCB), it's high time we got them back.

How right you are, but a national Health care policy, like we have is better than nothing.
And in an Emergency situation, if you get to a Hospital, you will get help. No questions asked if the emergency is LIFE THREATENING. THey will save your life (if they can) & deal with the paer work later.
THat is truely better than no National system at all

no contry needs to have an army. It's a waste of time, lives, and money. I'm an american and i'm not proud of america right now. It used to be a great country untill george bush was "elected" president after cheating. So much money is being wasted in america to go to the war in Iraq ...See how much money is being wasted . It's coming out of all of our taxes in such high amounts and when hurricane Katrina hit, all of out troops were in Iraq so there was barly anyone to go to New orleans. George bush didn't even go there untill a week after Katrina hit. He doesn't care about our country. Then after hurricane Katrina, gas prices went to an incredibly high over $3 amounts per gallon. About $3.40+ per gallon at all gas places. The only good news to look foward to are the senate polls in november......and after that, 2008

Actually I think canada has 100000 soldiers.

Canada is a geopoliticly stable region and advocates multilateralism. We don't need a huge ass military.

BS, recently a friend's grandfather die of cancer
WAITING for Chemo Treatment.

I prefer a two-tier system where Canadians have a choice.

As for the army, it's not the size of the army that makes a country peaceful; it's the foreign policy. I hate it when people mix the two up.

I think you guys should be worried about protecting your domestic problems before hitting ours. We actually caught our terrorists without passing some sort of patriot act.

Canadian, chill. It's too cold in the forum and it's going to your head. Canadians do get free healthcare, but it entirely depends on organ harvesting from the native peoples.

Alright buddy listen im an american iand even i understand next time you get the chance look on the back of any book or anything that has a price tag then look at the us canada differences ok? see how its more? they all pay for their health care but most of the time not directly they pay for it when they buy everyday things because they are charged more.

Buddy im afraid you see the point of having an army. Im army all the way. They pay for your college and they give you extra money here and there also its a way of getting experince before having a serious job if you plan to have one. When you get the lucky an hard job to be president you get rid of our army. The only thing that happens is if we had no army at all we would be vulnerable to those with armys. And unless you are some kind of miracle worker I dont think everyone is going to get rid of their army because its not all war purpose its also homeland security and and an enforcement force. And bud I may be 14 but I've done well that enough resarch on politics and the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines to know what im talking about.

From what? To the west of canada, theres ocean. To the east, ocean. To the south, the US. To the north, ice.

It's not like canada is a small, landlocked country surrounded by enemies.

Response to canada`s failure in army 2006-06-25 13:56:42

Ya. And of course, it got invaded in 1979.

Right now though, theres no major external threats to afganistan, and everyone in the region is wary of invading someone with the US around.

Our military is a well trained group of individuals who would gladly give their lives for you and your family. We train with the best America has and have beat them in war games (my dad was in the combat engineers and has funny stories of taking out who armoured divisions with crude wholes with paint mines in them). We have arguably the most outstanding special forces in the known world. They are the most secretive and productive anyone will ever see. Just because we dont have a bunch of half assed recruiters picking up out of shape 20 year olds for the marines doesnt mean we arent good. Thats the problem with america they arent training them up to snuff and the kids are too damn young for war. Canada in short is one of the most well oiled and effective forces we have to offer.

I don't like the idea of a two tier system for one main reason.
It screws up everyone who can't afford to pay for it.
Doctors flock to the private industry and who can blame them, it pays more, with less doctors and equipment it doesn't speed things up, those that can't afford it just wait much longer.

Did you ignore what I said? My friend's grandfather died before without treated because of the bullshit known as "the waiting list"

If he had the OPTION to pay for a doctor, he would still be living today.

It's from southpark the movie. Basicly, kyles and the other kids moms get pissed off at a canadian movie that has lots of cursing, and even leads a kid to death. So, they declare war on canada. It's more complicated than that, but thats the gist of it.

Though it is very vulgar, it is very inciteful and thought provoking.....
