Free Html Hosting Dec 18, 2007

<strong>Notice:</strong> I'm posting this in the programming forum becuase you guys have experience with HTML and server hosting. Thanks.

Well becuase I just recently purchased a domain at pyroflame.com and bought Dreamweaver I have been looking for free HTML hosting. Just recently Freewebs.com forces you to advertise there website on your website if you use there free HTML service. It used to be free, without you having to advertise you. It's a ugly huge bar that is at least 50 pixels high and across the whole screen at the bottom of every web page. And guess what? I was planning to use this service, and it came into effect shortly after I bought my domain.

So, does anyone know of any free HTML hosting I can use without any annoying ads they would put on my web site. And I'm talking about a good legit one, please... I have not been able to find a good one yet. Thanks in advance,

-Pyroflame

http://www.awardspace.com

http://www.superfreehost.info

All there of the hosts I mentioned above provide free hosting.

And that I can transfer that HTML hosting over to pyroflame.com or to another domain? Not really sure how all of this works yet lol.

I thought I was. In the first post I stated that Freewebs offered a free HTML hosting service that you could transfer, shortly after I had purchased it Freewebs made that stupid new rule. I am willing to spend a little money for hosting, more if I have to... But I know free HTML hosting with transfers exists somewhere out there. I wouldn't mind them putting a ad the there site but not a big huge ugly blue bar like Freewebs now has. I guess I should have said, "I'm not really sure how this HTML transfer stuff works yet with other websites".

@PyroFlames: Sorry this is just getting to be a peeve of mine in this topic could you please refrain from HAVING to put 'HTML Hosting' everytime you want to talk about hosting? What's the point EVERY web host has HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) It's the structure for any webpage, so please we all know what a webhost does no need for the html they ALL USE HTML EVERY SINGLE ONE!!! =P heh, thanks. ~James

Make an account and then re-upload all the files you had on freewebs.
You own the domain, right? If so;
Go to the site from-which you bought the domain and point the name servers to the ones given to you when you sign up with superfreehost, then log into your superfreehost admin panel and add the domain...

If you want it ad free, i'll either do it for $1 or if you put "Hosted by superfreehost" somewhere :)

i won it :)

Ok, I made an account there and my domain name is with Yahoo.com... I'll work on it now! I'll let you know if there is any problems.

Sorry, I was referring to that some websites have a website builder. I know what HTML means but some hosting has these stupid little website builders, sorry for any confusion.

Well forget about it, I went ahead and bought web hosting for $10 a month, $0 setup fee and $0 for the first month. But now I guess I don't know as much as I thought, I haven't really bought dreamweaver yet but have had the intention too... Right now I'm using it's trial. I'm using Yahoo for my domain name and web hosting, it has some tutorials on how to use dreamweaver by I'm still a tad bit confused. In dreamweaver when I set up a new domain, do I tell it the name of the webserver's domain or my domain? Well, I'm sure I'll figure this out, if I have any major problems with it I'll post here.

Thanks to all that tried to help!

Ok, good to know.

Well I'm finally doing it! Designing my own website, right now I have a basic webpage.

Pyroflame.com

Still learning this stuff but at least I can design my own webpages now. Right now I'm paying $10 a month for hosting. $0 for for the first month and $0 for the setup fee... Is that good? I think Yahoo won't let me use dreamweaver without it but I'm not sure. Well thanks for all of the help guys, if I have any other problems like with dreamweaver I'll post it here.

As a side note, can someone tell me why at the top of my website's homepage it says "<%@LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT" CODEPAGE="65001"%>"?

Ok, as I said... I'm using FileZilla, everything was going good with my website until I tried uploading SWF and FLA files on my website. It won't let me upload anything besides HTML and picture files! And of course my website is going to need both of those being a Flash website. And how do I make the picture files even appear? Like for example my background I made is a GIF, it uploaded to the server but isn't working when it's on the interwebby. Does anyone have any idea why?

What my website looks like.

What my website should look like.

He probably went with yahoo and yahoo doesn't give you shit for the money.

Oh and pyro go to http://www.w3schools.com to learn HTML so that you don't have to rely on dreamweaver or filezilla.

Thought so, but that's the lowest Yahoo would offer me, well at least from them anyways. Here's the plan, I think its way to much. And this is there lowest plan...

5 Gigs of disc space
200 Gigs of Bandwidth
200 Emails

That the basics, and thats alot I don't really need... But as I said it was $0 set up fee and $0 for the first month so I thought it would be fun to mess with. Do you have any suggestions on hosting?

Well they had a good offer for the first month ($0), I wasn't really planning to go with them longer than 2 months. Isn't there like $3/month hosting? Where could I find that? That's probably all I need.

Sounds good, I'll look into it.

Sorry about triple posting but, if I got hosting with besides Yahoo... How would I make that hosting appear on my site? With Yahoo hosting they automatically set it up for me and all I had to do was log onto my server. Would I have to enter something in Yahoo's control panel or something? To tell my website to draw it's information from different hosting somewhere else?

Go into your domain's control panel and change the nameservers to the new host's name servers.

Ok thanks! I'll probably use that hosting puppy.

Now I have another question, I'm uploading everything and it gets on my server but there is one small problem. My pictures don't show up! In my dreamweaver html file they do on my computer but when I transfer the dreamweaver html file along with the file's for the pictures dreamweaver made located inside of it, they do not. They just apear as broken images, does anyone know why? And can you please help me? Find my website here, and a screen shot here of my rocket icon for example for rocket world picture here. (Only one picture for now so I can test easier.)

Because you're not linking to an image properly.

<img width="88" height="31" src="AF FlashRangers"/>

Should be something like

<img width="88px" height="31px" src="AFFlashRangers.gif" alt="Flash Rangers" />

Thanks alot! My website is starting to look pretty good now! Lol, or at least I think so. As for my first website I ever designed without using a builder, what do you think? Here it is. Looks much better with the pictures and now I'm getting the background to work right now.

The background hurts my eyes. Make it subtler.

Suggestions on how I can do that? And btw, in Dreamweaver when I set the color for links and when I make a picture a link it also puts that color of the link color as a border around the picture, telling you that it is indeed a link. How can I make this border go away with it still being linkable?

In the img code put border="0" in there and it'll get rid of the border around the pictures. Or in the css you can do img {border: 0;} and it'll take care of all of the pictures on your page that are linked.
