Yeap.
While playing the game, I manageded to get 10+ points by destroying a single enemy. If the enemy is close enough, and by pressing the up arrow key and the "left" (not right) mouse button, in succession, rapidly, it is possible to get points by blowing up the explosion. Completing an entire game by destroying a mere three enemies is what I would definitely call short. Bugs aside, the game still needs help. I love the old missile command games as much as the other guy whose tastes and similar to mine--and if that is what you are shooting for (shooting...hehe ;) ), then I believe that you sorely missed it. Audio and video aside, the game was not much fun. First of all, why move? There is no place to go; the enemies fall too slow and the tank shoots too fast to merit moving. The enemies do not even shoot back. There are no kamikaze enemies wishing to pelt my tank with their highly explosive hulls. There are no subterranean beasts wishing a fine dinner of blood and iron. There are not even dove droppings wishing to mar my paint job. ;) Alas, to gander at the "animation" of the tank moving is not even worth the keystroke. Really, why move? I am not saying the moving is unnecessary, nay, I am only saying that there is no real purpose for it in this game...yet. Perhaps if there were suicide ships, metal eating monsters, pooping pigeons, and some creativity in your landscape, moving would be all the pleasure. And perhaps jumping, too. I like to jump. ;) Now, about the "homing" missiles. I do not like them. I like to "fire and forget" in this type of game. Especially if there were ever multiple enemies on the screen. Shooting at one terribly weak enemy at a time is anything but exciting. Except with skeet. You actually get to hold the shotgun AND use some talent/skill. I like shotguns, too. ;) Perhaps the laser guided missles should be an alternate weapon of sorts. NOT an upgrade. I do not want to be manically shooting and end up hitting the option for a terrible weapon that got in my way. Guns are the friendly; be friendly with the guns. ;) More and diverse enemies would also be a plus. Not the "shoot this enemy a couple of more times than that other enemy" enemy, but enemies with different personalities. Enemies, that zig, enemies that zag, enemies that bob, and enemies that dance; enemies that split, enemies that groan (for fun, of course), enemies that chase your ship, enemies whose explosions can damage their neighbors, and, yes, enemies that can shoot back. Having a "boss" enemy that would require you to take more than one shot to kill is not a bad idea either--but totally superfluous for the most part. I also thought the game screen was rather small, too. I do not like to shoot at enemies that appear one hundred feet above my head--unless, of course, they was a special breed of enemy. THEN it would be okay! ;) The ghost-ers aside, having the enemies come from some kind of firmament would be a nice look. Yes, with real cloud pictures and everything. Having a background would be nice too...probably a city section. Enemies that invade an open field are not much for enemies. Besides that, a plain black background is rather lame and unappealing. About the screen, though, I would have it larger...either by making a larger window (hack == not a good idea) or by making smaller avatars (fix == good idea). And, as with all games, fully customizable controls are ALWAYS a plus.
