this is really cool. here is how it works---say you choose 99 and its symbol is *. if you do all of the subtracting you will get 81 and it has the same symbol as 99. so it is just a matter of patterns

Choose an integer number between 1 and 99 (included). Substract from this number each digit that composes it.
Then look at the table and find the symbol that corresponds to your number...
Then click the button to let it guess your symbol...
