Help me, the last riddle keeps on bugging me and I just can't get it right. I've died a hundred times and I still can't get it. Please help.

It has some references to Fate/Stay Night, so those who familiar with the series will enjoy this more. But it's not a must to know the series.
The story goes like this...
Rin searches for a disciple who she can train into a magus. A magus must have a strong mentally, therefore she created a difficult exam to test the candidates' intelligence. You take the role of such a candidate.
Aside of trying to solve the riddles in the game by getting on Rin's nerves, you can also unlock lots of great BGM soundtracks by getting different endings in the game and by some... other secret means.

Looks like the grey numbers are added to get the yellow one beside it... SO WHY CAN'T I PUT IN A RANDOM NUMBER AND ADD IT TO THE GIVEN NUMBER??

It doesn't have to be a sum of gray squares. It's just a sum of the two squares to the left. There are very few formats in the game which really depend only on certain colors
