More challenge, less punishing.
Is the game designed to make me not want to play?
When I first started, I took a little time too look at my surroundings, just to get pounded by those spikes. It was completely unwarranted! Why do I need to get punished for taking my time to look at what kind of game I got into?
After a few more deaths, get to the second level.
I fall, and I restart at level 1. Why do I need to restart at level 1? Plus, it doesn't help that I have only 1 life. This game seems unrealistically punishing to players who don't know what to expect.
Next try. I get to level 3. I find myself trapped, then I died because I stood at the wrong side of the room with zero prior knowledge of what I can expect. Bam. back at level 1. I got my ass landed back at level 1 because I didn't know what to expect.
A challenging game is not a punishing game. I don't want to redo levels I've already done because you set up a trap that players are not going to expect.
