Made in 72 Hours for Newgrounds Game Jam 5
This time around, the theme was literature, and after a solid two minutes of discussion we decided to base our game on Jules Verne's 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.'

Take control of the Nautilus and help Captain Nemo evade the deadly giant squid!

Use the arrow keys to avoid the obstacles, and space bar to fire a torpedo. Keep an eye out for Nemo's nemesis, the giant squid.

Enjoy

Challenging, love it!

I love it. I've played through it about 4 times now trying to get further and further. The gradual increase in difficulty was nice and I like the torpedoes and random invisibility. I thought this was a great little take on the book. I don't know why people are freaking out about the art, I thought it suited the game well. Oh well!

Very good Game Jam entry

Sorry you are getting downvoted, no idea why. As the primary artist for the Peter Pan game in this game jam, I admit I don't think your game is as pretty as the one I worked on but that being said the gameplay is solid and challenging, the artwork serves its purpose, and the music is nice. A good game, especially for one made in a weekend.

Wallross responds:

Thanks!
Well, at least the competition isn't being decided on just the portal votes... It is a bit of a shame that it is getting downvoted and not many people are getting to see it though.

I agree ...

the art is not up to the mark. :/

alot of the features didnt get added in,a nd its repetitive, and the art isn't the best, so i will -5, but since it's MY game jam game, +5, for a total of 10/10 :)

sorry, im naturally a jack ass. :D

Wallross responds:

Ahah, we did well this time. If you look at Frozen Fate and Subterra then we're definitely improving. I have an idea for something we can add in an update though...

Good but not Great

Fantastic soundtrack and smooth controls, so-so graphics and an above average gameplay. It could have been nicer if there are more activities in the game like a wider variety enemies and powerups. But after reading this game is made within 72 hours, I couldn't complain. Hoping for an updated version.

for 72 hours its ok

its just there's no plot, no upgrades, no difficulty increase, no checkpoints or destinations... than and its a bit slow to play...
