This is my very first game, i made it in my TAFE course called Interactive Digital Media
okay you know what i quit it to fast those face and it not cool dude not cool
Even if it does not attempt to play I dont like
your English is a bit off...but thanks for telling me what you think
It was not what I thought of when I read the title.
I think that it could be something there if you were to shine it up, include a better "Troll" picture instead of a forgettable face, add levels and change the music a bit.
The you lose message was unexpected as well, it seemed to be against trolls but it looked to be made from one with the you lose message.
Overall, I'd just as soon forget I played it before really playing it again.
It is a forgettable game, it's my first game
I used the pinkish "trolls" as part of the actual troll, and to keep my teacher happy, he asked that i keep it as OC as possible
You know you're off to a shaky start when not even the title of the game can get the job done. Looking at the title 'Thwack a Troll', along with the thumbnail, my initial reaction is that this would be a meme-based game, in which the player must rack up their score by 'thwacking' countless internet trolls. However, this isn't the case. For starters, trolls don't even star in the game! It's simply a generic face taking their place, adding no sense of familiarity, context or character. Instead we're left repeatedly clicking on the face of a neutral cartoon man.
Furthermore, the audio itself isn't fantastic. While the music starts off quite nice and refreshing, it soon becomes apparent that it's simply a continuous, short loop of he same tune, and it really starts to wear as you continue to 'lose' and retry. However, the sound when you DO 'thwack' a 'troll' is incredibly fitting and more than satisfying.
My final issue with the game was the difficulty. You simply cannot win! I played a huge amount of times to get the perfect 9 score, and when I finally did, it still came up with the message 'You Lose'. This gave me no incentive to try again, as I couldn't try to better my own score or even attempt to complete the game.
In conclusion, the game is the base of something that could be pretty good. As it stands, though, this game is nothing more than the beginnings of a project, a 'BETA' project, if you will. It's not yet fit to be publicly playable, though with a little shine, it could turn into something rather enjoyable.
Problem?... but yes it is just an in class game, many of the things you said (No win, no trollface) were part of the troll, the music I used was just thrown in, my teacher said 1 lesson before it was due that it needed music and sound.
I will be fixing up the various things you mentioned and hopefully more people will realise the troll
P.S. thanks for a more in depth review, most people commenting are just telling me to suck balls
this stuff sucks bro!
...Well it was only my first game...but I'll be sure to take your "constructive" criticism into account next time
