Hexpulse was reworked. Here are the changes:
-Music plays properly now
-Added powerups that increase firerate, speed, damage and size(HP)
-Added Medals and Leaderboards integration
-Added loading screen
-Added title screen & main menu
-Simple tutorial/instructions on main menu
-Changes to the visual effects
-Particles now adapt and optimize according to FPS
-Difficulty ramps up faster (but you have powerups now!)
-New fonts for everything
-You can now toggle music and sfx
-Narrator voice implemented
-You can now pause the game
-Performance significantly improved
-Problems with medals/scoreboard and crashes fixed (let me know if you still run into them!)

Thanks! Not sure if I understand your question - the upgrades are the slow white hexagons. They increase a random stat: size, firerate, damage or movespeed.
Hope that helps clear things up!
