Massive Man Sounds Promo Animations

Share Collapse

Recently, I put out an album of fourteen filthy antifolk songs I recorded entirely on cassette. In addition to playing a couple local live shows, I decided that it would be good idea to make a series of promotional animations for my various social media platforms (hence the stupid aspect ratio). I quite like how most of them came out, so I decided to also post it to NewGrounds. I hope you get as much of a kick out them as I did while laboring through their production over the last two or three weeks.

Here is a list of the songs and their subsequent animations in order of appearance:

  1. Forget Dreams (0:00)
  2. Heat Death (0:09)
  3. Mugged (0:40)
  4. The Poopis (part 2) (0:46)
  5. The President (1:10)
  6. Winter Storm (1:29)
  7. Ed Loves Diarrhea (1:35)
  8. Lose Yourself (1:55)
  9. Severe Butt Disorder (2:07)
  10. Lights (2:21)
  11. Nothing is Real (2:38)
  12. Can't Make It to the Show Tonight (2:48)
  13. Moment on the Wall (3:00)
  14. Forever the Sun (3:16)

I really like how fluid and squishy your animation is... It's just that I don't really like it here (even if after reading your description everything makes more sense).

Severe Butt Disorder made me chuckle. And the amount of dedication put into Ed Loves Diarrhea is pretty evident. Even though I don't really know what to say about it.

SquidSacksArt responds:

Haha, I can't say I disagree with your assessment.

While it's certainly fun (and better for other website's stupid algorithms) to make these random rapid fire animations, I definitely prefer slightly longer and more artistically concise works. The main problem with my preferred style is that any serious projects I undergo require a stupid amount of manual effort... and often times I'm not even fully satisfied with the final product. My previous animation, "Robo & Roacho" took me around two months of constant labor, and it's runtime barely hit the minute-and-a-half mark. Fortunately for me though, all that effort payed off in that it was fairly well received and was even front-paged for a brief period. Because of this, I feel that your assessment regarding my creative misdirection is spot on. I will make an effort to focus on "more artistically viable" works. My current long-ish form project has been in the animation-phase of production since about February, and is likely months away from seeing the light of day. Hopefully, despite it's flaws, it will serve as a better building block for this silly little creative journey I tricked myself into enjoying.

Thank you for taking the time to not only watch my work, but also lightly dissect it. I realize this response is pretty winded, but that's because I genuinely do value other people's appreciation and criticism for what I do. I shall learn from your words, random internet friend. Take care.

really nice, looking forward to more from you

SquidSacksArt responds:

Why thank you, friend. I shall continue to make as much as my stupid flesh body will allow me.
