I made this junior/sophomore year in college. I love the theme of kid commercials which aren't even really a thing anymore. There existed hundreds of commercials in America of kids "doing thing enthusiastically." I thought it would be hilarious to do it for something insanely boring. When thinking of what the funniest thing you could sell to kids my grandma gave me a microwave pouch of cabbage soup: nailed it.

Most of it is in camera effects. The steam/glow was done by putting a piece of acrylic in front of the entire frame and animating using vaseline. The chair was painted oils clay. The latex paint dries like wood and only had to last until I did the melt. I nailed it in one but I had 2 just incase.

The only part I didn't like was the texture of the faces. This was my first try at casting epoxy. I was unaware at how much I was going to need to sand smooth or Dremel the demolded faces. In turn the faces were a bit bumpy and I assumed that I had done it wrong.

The replacement faces are cool. I really don't like covering seems in stop motion still. Blatantly seeing the edges of the faces are purposefully not covered up digitally or with clay; to me seeing the parts of the toy is part of the fun of stop motion.

The majority of armature work is done with magnets. The feet have neodymium in them as do the replacement faces and the base head.

I also really would want to go back to this modok style body.

This was made for a children's media class so the main audience is tweens (which is my primary audience). Lastly the format. This is not 16:9 nor 4:3. I kinda shot it native so that I could evoke old 4:3 tv while fitting into modern widescreen trend.
