This is gonna be sick for sure! But I will say you can fly forever if you air dash and use a trick and repeat.

feels great! and a double jump would be sick!

This is a very good game.

Came from your YT video on how you've made what you have so far, and had to create a new newgrounds account to give you a review. This is a perfect foundation for a fun fangame.

Hey dude!

Just watched your video and thought I would try it for myself.
Its a great start!

I did notice a few bugs and have a few QOL suggestions but honestly besides that I think what you've done so far is amazing!

Bugs:

1. The SHIFT trick: I'm sure you're aware of this (since you said in your video about adding restrictions to it) but after doing the SHIFT trick you regain your air dash, allowing you to chain the two indefinitely for a ton of distance while losing minimal height, you also don't ever lose the SHIFT trick allowing you to ascend walls with it, I thought this might be intentional but I realised you don't regain your air dash after a wall jump so from what I can tell it's a bug.

2. Running against a wall: When running against a wall sonic is constantly stuck in his turning sprite, at first I thought this was a lean against the wall but looking more closely it's the turning sprite, this in itself is fine but the main problem is if you continue to run you get the stage 2 speed increase sonic boom effect, which leads me to believe you constantly build up speed in the corner, this turns out to be the case as if you jump you get repelled.

3. Coming up from rolling: As you know when rolling the up arrow un-balls sonic, if you get to the second stage of running (with the sonic boom effect), roll until you are a speed that would put you in stage 1 then press the up arrow sonic will do the turning around (running variant) animation instead of the stage 1 running animation until he hits stage 2 in which the bug corrects itself.

4. The A Trick Air stall: this one is probably the least important as its barely noticeable + the SHIFT trick is WAAYYY better at this but if you press air dash and the A trick at the same time sonic will just stall in the air for a second, then he will fall. Again not a big issue, you can use this with Bug 1 to even better your air stalls but its hard to do with only a little bit of improvement.

QOL:

Please take these with a grain of salt, this is more me being picky than anything

1. Animation speeds: Its seems rather strange that sonics stage 1 running animation is faster than sonics stage 2 running animation, it makes it feel like he's leaping rather than running.

2. The camera: Simply it would feel nicer if the camera followed sonic, with how it is at the moment if you switched rooms you have minimal time to react to a hazard on the left side of the screen, (I know there are none at the moment I meant for the future).

THATS IT

You've done an amazing job so far dude I cannot stress that enough :) I look forward to the future of this game :D
