Update 1: Added the score to the in-game screen and added variable speed for the gameover screens movement so it moves a little faster in the later game. Also remembered to put my name on the main screen so I've managed to fit that on lol.

Update 2: Added trophies and leaderboard, hopefully should be working! (high scores have reset as a result for a new clean save).

Update 3: A couple of minor tweaks and created a notification system for trophies as it's not built into the Godot script for the newgrounds API.

Bunny Smoosh was intended as a submission for the 7th Nokia 3310 Game Jam that ended a few days before posting here, unfortunately I started the jam 4 days into it as I hadn't settled on an idea, so I didnt get to finish it in time.

The game follows the theme of the Nokia 3310 mobile using the template provided for the Jam. The quirks of how the Nokia displayed images and the game engine made it a little difficult to get it displaying well, however a couple of tricks and multiple edits have made most of the graphics function as expected, and probably a little cleaner than some of the Nokia games fo the time. The game is also fixed at 15 frames per second, the same as the Nokia 3310. Only one sound can be played at a time, due to the Nokia limitations, so sounds will interrupt eachother - so there's only 3 sounds in the game to keep it simple.

GamePlay

The aim of the game is survive as long as possible, collecting coins to score points that also pushes back the game over screen which is trying to catch you from the left of the screen. Meanwhile obstacles are heading your way, appearing at the right of the screen, all while the speed of obstacles increasing.

Coming into contact with the game over screen, a spike or not ducking to go underneath a platform will cause damage.

I love this idea of 'reverse autorunner'.

It's a basic arcade game, nothing too special were it not for the aesthetics. In particular, the slower speeds had a cool illusion where the checkered walls looked like they were rolling. Surprisingly though, the intentional clunkiness made it fun to play.

(score: 1810)

Cute little arcade game! It's rather simplistic and a little clunky so I can't see myself sticking with it, but the Nokia aesthetic is an amusing novelty and the foundation for an endless runner is executed decently, especially when you put it in the context of respecting the limitations of the Nokia. I like the neat little touches like how the game over screen keeps trying to roll over you until it finally does. Not bad for a game jam result!

Sjhillustration responds:

Thanks for the feedback! It was nice to just make something simple in a short space of time.

GOT 4355. I HAVE BEATEN YOU Sjhillustration!

I finished the badges, and also, I use the technic called "I'm the pancake".
