Brings me back to the days of old time shooters! Great upgrade system, and quite humourous in the way the intro parodies old vertical shooters! Well done :)

Good, but a few weird parts.
LIKED:
-Graphics were great.
-Gameplay steadily increased in difficulty; slow enough that it wasn't overwhelming, but fast enough that it wasn't boring.
NOT SO MUCH:
-High scores link didn't work right, unless my score was an advertisement for shrub transplantation.
-Slowed down a little when I got full firepower towards the end of the game.
IMPROVEMENTS:
You should make an endless mode, that was the only thing it was missing in my opinion. More upgrades would be nice (maybe wingmen?), but the way it is now isn't bad.
So there's a game mechanic I haven't really seen in too many other places- how your ship will expel shots at the maximum fire rate possible until energy is depleted, then after that the ship can only fire shots at the fire rate described in the menu. That's an idea I think I want to see implemented in other games.
