Reviews for "5 Hour Challenge #1"

Pretty good for 5 hours

first time he waked it looked backwards

Hmmm

This is a very cool flash done in a very short time and for that i commend you! Theres not many flashes that could be made in 5 hours that could manage a half decent score. ^_^
I like this and the theme of tradegy is significant in it and fits very well, nice interpretation.

The graphics were alright, not fantastic but not too bad for 5 hours of work, The backrounds are pretty good too, nice amount of detail and the colouring is effective also. The animation was pretty smooth throughout the whole thing and as everyone has mentioned the first running scene was a bit glitchy but nevermind that.

The sound was cool, the music used for the scenes was dramatic and used very effectively and the ending credits music was just plain wierd. Maybe the flash could of used voice acting or speakonia voices but you probably didnt have enough time.

Overall its a cool falsh for 5 hours and i hope you win the nationals, and whatever you make for the nationals submit it to newgrounds as id love to see it. Keep up the good work!!

Graphics - 7
Animtion - 7

Thanks for the review, and as I said to Haggard, send me you MSN and you can tell me, even if you are unexperienced in flash, just as a viewer what you want to see.

Thanks,

Good

Pretty good, some flaws but excellent for the time you had to do it in.

Graphically it's not that impressive, even though it did have it's moments. But what was created was good.

The sounds was interesting aswell, not that well tuned or trimed, but due to the time you mde it in I'll look over this, great job.

The story was actually pretty good, overall if there was more time or you could have taken it at your own paces it would've been near perfect, great job.

Hmmm

It's not too bad in someways but in others it could be better, like the text, it would have been good if those where voices, ever computer voices would have been nice, just something to listen to. The art wasn't brillient but not all that bad, some parts could have done with some work, like the shop background.

Also there was one part in it where there was a car but the main charector walked home and didn't use a car, not sure if that was for background reasons or what. It could have done with a little more work overall though, but okay.

2/5

Well, this looks very rushed. As if it was done in about 5 hours... hey wait!

Ok, seriously now. The graphics look quite nice. I like the background in the first scene (where dad says he has to walk to the store). Nice shading there. Also the colours are very well chosen.

When he walked to the store the background was moving into the wrong direction, but you already know that.

Voice acting would have been good here, but I guess you had no time for that. The speech bubbles you used are ok as well, as you chose a font that is very easy to read (and the white background made it even easier).

The music is quite good, but it starts and ends too abrupt. A little fade in/fade out would sound better, I guees.

Overall, the movie has a lot of potential, it just needs some small fixes here and there.

Cranksta responds:

Thanks for the detailed review, and yea, i know what you mean about the music, we were limited to sound recorder for sound editing. Such fine facilities we worked with, let's hope the Nationals will have better software. Plus we are going with frame by frame animation style in Calgary as we can draw very fast and effective, so have an eye out for that. Also if you can give us any tips for the Nationals May 24-28th, send me your MSN or something, I don't know how PM's work on NG.

Peace,
James
