Reviews for "Slick Nick - Private Dick"

Oh the nostalgia!

This reminds me of all the late night cartoons from the mid-nineties. Your animation delivered with quirky imagery, your writing was sharp and witty, you wrote interesting and endearing characters, and the voice acting was superb and kept with the pace of the scenes. Altogether worthy of the front page and a perfect score. I'm favouriting this one.

P.S. I like the Lake Ontario joke in the beginning.

One of the best NG flashes in awhile.

It was great. It was pure fun, unique, cool and a lot like some of the old 'adult' cartoons that were actually 'adult' by being mature and silly fun without being obscene and etc. It's great to see a NG flash that is just plain fun, and noting more. This site is great, but few flashes just feel.. fun like this. Favourited!

I think my sides split.

Ok, I'll say the negative first. It was very, very sloppy and the sound editing, quality, and mixing was subpar.

Still the script, the fact that the animation was simply fantastic (very weighted and loads of frame-by-frame goodness), and the overall premise made this endlessly enjoyable. All the voice acting was perfect, despite the recording quality being fairly shit. Those backgrounds were something else. Childish and unclean though they may be, the contrast between them and the cast made the characters stand out and the focus never left them.

This is probably one of the most enjoyable things I've seen here in a long time.

Thanks for the honest feedback! I think the audio issues are mostly just in this Newgrounds version. The .avi video versions on Youtube and Dailymotion are really a lot better to watch. The lowered audio quality was the only way I could make the video fit under 10mb.

a lovely breath of fresh air

What a nice comedy film. The sloppy drawing style and the very cornball tongue in cheek humor went together perfectly. It gave me that same kind of warm fuzzy feeling one gets from watching Tintin or Inspector Gadget or Mr.Magoo
The volume seemed to get out of whack sometimes though. As if the microphone was very far away from someone shouting at it.

Also good call on actually casting a kid to do a kid's voice. People should do that more often.

Slick Nick is quite a bumbling fool. I really hope you make more of these.

Absolutely lovely

It was great. The style was ABSOLUTELY perfect for the content. It felt like an animated sunday comic strip. I liked how it mixed classic cartoon plots and ideas with like modern kind of comedy. It was also nice that you made it accessible to everyone. A great flash really. Deserves more recognition than the treasure Hunt can offer
