Short Tales - Golden Nitelife
This city was large and almost mazelike sometimes. It was certainly a behemoth, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't all that different from Celadon. My friend, Lyra, she'd tell me I haven't seen anything yet, she'd tell me I haven't seen it really shine. We checked into a hotel, I fed my Pokemon and made arrangements with Lyra to go eat out that night, after I tackled the gym that is.
So I went out and battled through the Normal-type nightmare that was the Goldenrod gym. Whitney was an annoying little brat, using cheap tactics with her damn Miltank and being overall childish, but me and my team won in the end. By the time I finally got my badge from the brat, the sun was already coming down.
Lyra came by to fetch me and my mood had soured, but she gave her condolences and insisted I'd feel better once I stepped outside. I agreed that leaving the building would probably be best, but she wasn't referring to that.
When I stepped out, the sky was in its last moments of light, fading fast. Taking the sun's place were a myriad of lights and decorations filling the evening with soft colors and a welcome air. Cafes and restaurants set their establishments aglow with a warm white light, the Gamecorner's varied entertainments spilled music into the streets, and the radio tower lit up like a christmas tree. So this was the draw of Goldenrod?
This was when the city was most alive!
