Damn I always type to fast. :-)
Make loads of spelling mistakes.

Newgrounds is a website for 13 year olds who cannot understand the difference between "there", "their" and "they´re".

Here is my outlook on newgrounds, and a few
comments on our own society as well.....

On newgrounds, most of the people participate in most everything on newgrounds.( grounds gold, BBS, portal)There are some MAJOR assholes, as in the real world. And there are some geniunely nice people too, unlike the real world. Heh heh heh.....erhem. You could look at Newgrounds as a giant metropolis. In this fine, entertaining, neat-looking city, there are many sections with many people. There are the artists, who would be the builders and influencers of this city. Many diverse views, styles, and influences flow around and melt with eachother, creating some good, some bad, and alot of plain funny. But again, what is good or bad, only just perspectives. Many intelligent and not so smart people come together to live Newgrounds, the living, invisible city.

What I'm trying to say is, though, that many people dislike otheer people because they are different. What many people need to do is to think, actually think, and logicize everything and come up with their own religion, and not fear from the opressing others. Share your ideals with others, you'll learn and change and so will they. I am not telling you this is the way you have to live. Or that this is the way you should live. You have to make your own decision and stop eating what they tell you and you make your own food.

And a side note for all you "christians": you are not a christian. You use some book to manipulate others just as you are. Manipulated by a corrupt religion twisted and bent from catholicism, which was used religion as a means to control people.

Well, I've said what I've come to say, and that's it. I hope you enjoy....

Basically, I'm looking for anything interesting about the NG community - how people interact, the different ways they choose to do so, how they achieve status, etc. Try to think of stuff that I might not think of, or weird observations that most people don't notice. How do you compare the NG community to other online communities? Do you feel it is the most user-involved site you visit, or are there better examples? Give me lots of feedback! If the paper is any good, I'll post it on the site. :)

I'm absolutely sure it's not just me, but when I type in NG and the screen appears with that god awful music...I feel at home. When we wonder what gives NG it's edge... To me 2 things immediately come to mind: The fully automated Portal, a wonderess place where superb flash designers submit there work in hopes to achieve peoples respect, and a great score. And then, there is the badassness (if that's a word) that NG is very much known for over the internet. NG is the backbone of flash sites. Without NG, the whole internet would go out of order, thousands of people would comit suicide (one of which would be me) and tons of great flash animators and programmers would stop making great flashes because they wouldn't get to compete against the world. (Not as easy at least, no portal would make it hard to compare) Anyway, what it all comes down to is: NG rocks, and you have enough games and animations to last you years without getting bord. LONG LIVE NG!!!

How much writing can you do about a bunch of 13 year olds who want porn and violence and have no lives?

Response to San Fran, Research 2001-08-13 10:59:05

What people don't notice about newgrounds is that community is different from all others because it brings everyone together, If you like making fun of video games theres people who love to do that. If you like mindless kill theres always stuff like that. Everything you love is here and there always more.

Tom,

I've been going to Newgrounds for two years now, and it's definately my favorite website. Before you started to really get the viewer-run portal up and running, the flash content was fairly limited, but definately was a new horizon for the internet world. It got people interested in things they weren't interested before, it got artists noticed, and it definately entertained. Controversial as it has been, Newgrounds was never a negatice place, and in many ways kept kids interested and occupied, instead of going out and shooting people because they were picked on. Some people believe sites like Newgrounds promote things like violence, but really it's quite the opposite. Newgrounds promotes creativity and art, and brings out the good in many people. It shows if young artists try, they can get respected. Even dumb college kids! : P Anyways, thanks for the wonderful thing you've created Tom.

I would say that most people (that i have met) that come to Newgrounds often, come for the humorous animations, and addictive games.Other's create animation on advertisement for their web page, and gaining attention from the NG society.I come because I love to see how much effort people put into their animation and how it was created. Thus trying it myself.

Hahahah not everyone is like that here, just 97%.

I don't know, the only way to be a part of the NG "community" is to have the IQ of an anal bead as the grammar from most of the blokes who responded will verify. The bbs has its moments where it's actually interesting but ever since this place was invading by the 12 year olds on summer break, it went a bit downhill; at least the portal cartoons are still good. Good luck on your paper Mr. Tom, and remember, when all else fails, make something up!

I think some people really do review newgrounds for power.
Theres reviewers out there who give good movies zeroes and act like it's "There opinion" and bullshit,
then the animator would reply saying "listen fucko, you can't give people zeroes just 'cause you don't like it,"
Then thered be a guy saying to the animator,"I could just tell by you're response how gay you are "Fucko?"
you think you're going to give wise and snappy answers
I bet you'll give a wise and snappy answer to me now"
so yeah, newgrounds is a cesspool for nerds like us who havn't figured out humanity, the animator just said what was unfair and some other guy ignored that, mabye to be brave or something,No one has any limits here, no one is really repremended for there bullshit, this might be a haven for people who want shelter from there own consequences,or the bullying of others, then, as they see heaven, they want to raise hell,
50% of these movies are made by people who hate the reviewing system and put shit in there just to piss off the reviewers, would that really be repremending?
(bad movies.) I think the whole Newgrounds thing is crumbling becuase of the hate, little nerds who stay up till one o clock, still find after trying to escape from rules made by idiots, theres no rules here but hate. And you can see that on the movies and the nerdy little reviews like this one.
...But you're site is pretty cool and there are strong movies.

i was thinking of newgrounds one day really hard and i figured out , that newgrounds needs more than cartoons , i mean i just bought an NG shirt and i was
feeling pretty good when i was boarding around town ,
but they are gonna look and go there and its going to be cartoons on the front page. We need more content like, products , people,
real videos, and even music.

think about it tom newgrounds needs to be more than flash cartoons , it needs to be a lifestyle.

The NewGrounds community could best be compared to the community on yahoo. Don't be offended! While NewGrounds has no personals or links to sites with maps, you do have a chat, cams, and a bazillion or two sites to search through. All that's missing are a few TV commercials using a catchy jingle. You've got the jingle.... what are you waiting for?

I am pretty much a newcommer to Newgrounds. My friend showed me this site one day when we were bored. I played a few games and I have to admit that the dress up games were pretty cool. But when I had to go on vacation and leave my friends for 2 weeks I found myself very lonely. Then I remembered Newgrounds. My real home. This community has brought me comfort that only Marlbro Reds can compare with. I love the fact that I can come here, sit my lazy ass down with a bunch of junk food, and watch movies and take breaks to kill celebs. It gets me in a creative mood. Soon I will have completed my first flash. The only thing I "had" a problem with was the dissing on Metallica, but then I realized everyone is intitaled to their own opinion, me included. That's why I give them shitty reviews. So I salute Tom Fulp and this wonderfully fucked up city he built.

the think thats makes the newgrounds community different from other community is that he are not coming together for a good cause we are just normal kids looking for somthing to make us laugh. I think that most of us can be brought together by the stuipdest thing like flash.

PS I hoped i helped

Try to keep the ads off, cause they really annoy me.
BUT THIS ISN"T THE MAIN REASON I'M TYPING THIS !!!!! TOM FULP, SEE THIS, THERE IS SOMETHING ON THE PORTAL CALLED FUN QUESTION MARK 7, WHICH IS NOT ONLY REALLY SHITTY, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THE CREATOR FOUND A WAY TO KEEP IT ON THE PORTAL'S TOP 50... AND IF I AM WRONG, SOME GUY KNOWS HOW TO... CHECK IT OUT, AND TIGHTEN UP SECURITY...

Response to San Fran, Research 2001-08-14 21:09:07

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My only major problem with the NG community is that so many users are hyperactive, sex-craving 14-year-old boys who only play the dress-up games, make horribly bad movies, and post pure stupidity on the BBS about how they think Newgrounds sucks ballz, just to get attention.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While NG _is_ a place for everyone, a little more maturity, mentally and physically, would be nice.

What i'm responding to is the stuff in the exclamation marks... That is a major stereotype... I'm 13, and my birthday is in October, and even though I have not submited any flash, I am not sex craving, perverted, and mean kid. And I bet half of the 13-14 year olds aren't either, so lay-off...
