Well, animals eat vegetables too, so if we're really going to give rights to vegetables, we'd have to take some away from animals so they can't eat it.

yes, some plants can react to stimuli through a chain of complicated chemical reactions but it does not mean they have emotions like humans.

in fact, they can't have consciousness because plants don't have brains. =P
