I prefer a two-tier system where Canadians have a choice.

As for the army, it's not the size of the army that makes a country peaceful; it's the foreign policy. I hate it when people mix the two up.
I don't like the idea of a two tier system for one main reason.
It screws up everyone who can't afford to pay for it.
Doctors flock to the private industry and who can blame them, it pays more, with less doctors and equipment it doesn't speed things up, those that can't afford it just wait much longer.
Did you ignore what I said? My friend's grandfather died before without treated because of the bullshit known as "the waiting list"

If he had the OPTION to pay for a doctor, he would still be living today.

Ahhh, but he DID have the option to pay. He could have gone down to the US and paid, he could have gone to Germany and paid, he could have gone to India and paid. But he decided to wait right here in Canada.

Injured Workers rights were taken away in the 1920's by an insurance company (WCB), it's high time we got them back.

A bit of a soft area here, I'd imagine.

The problem is that people training to be doctors and nurses in Canada are lured over to the US for the aspect of higher wages and benefits - but fail to realize that malpractice insurance makes up that difference. They move down south for more money, but don't realize that insurance cuts down their balance. Some are also intrigued by the 'for profit' aspect of some hospitals. The result is that hospitals are understaffed and overworked all over the country.

Nationalized healthcare isn't the problem. Lack of specialized doctors and nurses... this seems to be the main problem for our hospitals.

...Sorry about your grandfather, too.

no contry needs to have an army. It's a waste of time, lives, and money. I'm an american and i'm not proud of america right now. It used to be a great country untill george bush was "elected" president after cheating. So much money is being wasted in america to go to the war in Iraq ...See how much money is being wasted . It's coming out of all of our taxes in such high amounts and when hurricane Katrina hit, all of out troops were in Iraq so there was barly anyone to go to New orleans. George bush didn't even go there untill a week after Katrina hit. He doesn't care about our country. Then after hurricane Katrina, gas prices went to an incredibly high over $3 amounts per gallon. About $3.40+ per gallon at all gas places. The only good news to look foward to are the senate polls in november......and after that, 2008

SOMEONE PLELASE NOTICE THAT!!!

Every country unfortunatly needs an army in a perfect world maybe not. An army is for the defense of the country.
And i doubt america is going to change much whoether is in charge.

canada has got a small army but the population of canada is tiny.
So compared to the actuall population its army is impressive for what it is.

Same with australia there population is smaller than londons population But there army isn't bad.

Britain who even so being so much smaller than canada it has a huge population, our armys getting smaller and smaller.

Sayin all that Canada, Australia and Britain have much smaller armys than america but there more highly trained than the american army.
America goes for numbers and Technology.

Canada is nicely out of the way, as is america so they both should just stay out of trouble and thrive as two great countries. instead of going and interfering with the middle east

LOL SO TRUE, but seriously as a Canadian i believe we should have a larger military even if it does mean cuts in programs, a reason i think it is beneficial is that Canada actually IS a target as it was clearly seen when terrorists were planning to bomb parliament along with the CN tower in Toronto, along with the Rogers Center in Toronto a block away from the Tower, they also planned to cut off the PMs Head

If there was an attack on Canadian soil, there would be more military personnel to contain and handle the situation, also if Canada was attacked by anotehr naiton which i do not think is so far fetched in today's world then obviously we cannot simply rely on American Jets and Missilies, which are no doubt effective but in the time it takes them to arrive the Damage would already be done, I think Canada has to rewind itself in time and be a bigger and more powerful nation like it was percieved to be in WW1 and 2

The US military is actually having trouble recruiting lately, and has had to lower their standards.

You guys don't need an army with the U.S. as neighbor and ally. Be cool, youg usy are lucky to be un-militaristic. If you want to move to a militaristic nation you can always move to the U.S. with very little problem.

If a country needs an army to protect it's country, why is america's (our because I live in america) army in Iraq? It would defend our country if it were in america. For example, say there's another terrorist attack while our troops are in Iraq. How can our troops protect us then?

Sad.

We have 65, 000 soldiers.

And the budget is going to be even higher, once Steven Harper gets through.

Blame Canada by South Park
Sheila: Time's have changed
Our kids are kids are getting worses
They wont obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!
Sharon: Should we blame the government?
Liane: Or blame society?
Dads: Or should we blame the images on TV?
Sheila: No, blame Canada
Everyone: Blame Canada
Sheila: With all their beady little eyes
And flappin heads so full of lies
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila: We need to form a full assault
Everyone: It's Canadas fault!
Sharon: Don't blame me
For my son Stan
He saw the darn cartoon
And now he's off to join the Klan!
Liane: And my boy Eric once
Had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him he tells me to fuck myself!
Sheila: Well, blame Canada
Everyone: Blame Canada
It seems that everythings gone wrong
Since Canada came along
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Some Guy: There not even a real country anyway
Ms. McCormick: My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer it's true
Instead he burned up like a piggy on a barbecue
Everyone: Should we blame the matches?
Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
Sheila: Heck no!
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila: With all their hockey hubbabaloo
Liane: And that bitch Anne Murray too
Everyone: Blame Canada
Shame on Canada
The smut we must stop
The trash we must smash
Laughter and fun
must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before someone thinks of blaming uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus

Just to end some misconceptions i have read here.

Canada has a much larger army then 32,000 ground troops.

http://en.wikipedia...ki/Canadian_Military

https://www.cia.gov/..eos/ca.html#Military

BTW, That boat up there would be crazy effective. Think about it the guy is rocking a C6 and is small and agile good luck hitting him while he tears you to shreds.

BTW2, Canada has never been in a war that has ended in a loss.

BTW3, Canada has beaten the american army in 4 concecutive war games.

BTW4, JTF2 special tactics troopers go to the united states to train the navy seals and american rangers.

I honestly hope you are kidding, because that is one of the stupidest statements I've seen on the NGBBS. Why, oh why the flying fuck, do so many ignorant kids, I don't care if your only a year younger then me you're a fucking kid for saying that, think we have to be America Jr.? America is fucked so hard politically, that I do think they'll have another revolution because their government is a big pile of shit. We don't need a huge army because we are not constantly trying to be the world police and shove our views down every one elses throats. We are our own country, not perfect but better then most others, and we do NOT want to be another USA. Shut the fuck up, don't ever say anything about my country again, you ignorant little fuck.

And Jesus, that last line is retarded.

Bleh.
