So.....

My school requires me to get a check-up every year before school. Everything was going just fine, until I got on the scale, and had my hight taken. Apparently, I've lost 2 inches over one year.

The next day, I get X-rays taken.... and when it was over, my mother said she could see a curve in my back.

I haven't spoken with a doctor yet, but over the phone, they said I'm a "7", and they start worrying at "10".

My spine started hurting a couple days ago.

I'll update when I talk with a doctor(which I hope will be soon).

If I get the x-rays back, I'll post 'em.

I have something like scoliosis too (quite a few people in my family do) I think, but I've never lost height.

so i probaly have it (not checked yet) only means no school anyway you cant die fromit youll just serjury(sorry no spelling)

ooh that sucks. A sophomore at my school has that and his shoulders are slanted. If you have good friends, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Bracing is only done when the patient has bone growth remaining, and is generally implemented in order to hold the curve and prevent it from progressing to the point where surgery is necessary. Bracing involves fitting the patient with a device that covers the torso and in some cases it extends to the neck. The most commonly used brace is a TLSO, a corset-like appliance that fits from armpits to hips and is custom-made from plastic. It is usually worn 23 hours a day and applies pressure on the curves in the spine. Bracing is only mildly effective as compliance is typically low, although some of the newer braces (such as the Charleston back brace) are touting better compliance rates and outcomes. Typically braces are only used for idiopathic curves that are not grave enough to warrant surgery, but they may also be used to prevent the progression of more severe curves in young children, in order to buy the child time to grow before performing surgery which would prevent further growth in the part of the spine affected.

My sister had something like that and had to wear a back brace. But on a possitive note, it did straighten her back out, it just took about a year. Hope all goes well for you.

One of my friends has scoliosis. His was horrible. He had to get sugery. I'm sure you won't, though.
