Reviews for "Battle Star Empire"

I played it, won several times, but it isn't great

Tips.

Sell your farm. Buy one more house, then five workers and as many lumber things as you can. Get more lumber by ending turn, till you have five lumber things. Sell all your lumber things, buy five ore process buildings, and three farms. End turn till you have at least 500 titanium, and 250 food.

Upgrade.

Then, buy some more lumber buildings, and continue getting lumber till you have enough for a few more houses. Buy those houses, then workers, and end turn till you have 1000 titanium and 500 food, and upgrade. Repair if you get below fifty health.

Now fill out lumber, ore and wood things, and buy as many houses as you can, and workers as well. You need 1000 food, I think, and 2500 nova, so you can just sell the titanium and wood for nova. Once you have enough to upgrade, then upgrade. Pick the nova, as you should have maximun workers. Then, upgrade everything, buy everything, and end turn till you have enough resources to buy the wonder, selling your excess materials. If you get close to the end without enough, just sell your useless things, like weapons factories and barracks. I have never lost.

Anyway, weaknesses. Back explanation of controls. Battles are boring. No music, or bad music, can't remember which. Not enough cool features.

Altho good....

Luck is everything...at least for this game
The age req. are also high, and the attacks are super often. I liked it but it really struck a nerve...it would be better if you allowed tactics and the workers to fight or fend off, or give some defenders at the beginning to at LEAST allow you to survive past turn 10

Good Game but could use work (And also the sounds got a little annoying)

Not the first of its kind. Needs improvement.

Although there were efforts put into this game. I can say a few words of encouragement and improvement:

I can obviously see that there was effort put into this, and that it was a fairly well done game. But.

Some points of Improvement:
The instructions: Busy. Way too busy. It seemed like i was reading an essay that had the thesis in the conclusion and the main points in the introduction. It needs to be cleaned up a little, its way too busy for my taste and because of it, i went into the game without instructions. Obviously that handicapped my ability to play...eh...

Mess of game: The main field itself felt alittle over busy. It was all over the place and it felt like i had to grasp everything at once to complete it. I can't seem to find a way to properly organize my things before my next point.

Total Luck: IMO, the point of this game is, luck. If i get attacked during my first 5 turns, i'm doomed. Yup. So i have to cross my fingers to make sure that i live through the 5 turns, then start on whatever i need to continue on. It should be limited to so that the attacks start a few turns afterwards. It is painful to see everything of mines go down the drain just because i can't access the barrack yet and i'm down to 2% health.

So that is all, good effort, i enjoyed fiddling around with it before i got angry. 3/5

1st: If you have enough houses to hire workers or soldiers, if you sell the houses the units still remain.

2nd: When you are below 1 unit of the building limit, you can also build a 2pop. building

Weak

I'm usually a fan of this type of game, the 'build and develop your base' genre, but this one falls short.

First up, the graphics are basic and simple, the buildings are line drawings compromising of rectangles and squares. They couldn't really be even recognisable examples of the structures they are set out to be (wood mill, trade centre, barracks etc.)

The instructions were unclear and didn't give enough info about the game and what was needed in order to progress effectively.

The idea of fighting enemy troops after random turns was a good one, but poorly handled. The system of just clicking a plus sign repeatedly then clicking the button which started the battle was a cop out. You could of atleast showed some combat instead of just letting us watch our health drop afew points.

In the easy option, you have 50 turns to buy the Wonder building. By turn 50 I had about 20% of the materials required to make the purchase, and I feel I was maximising each turn. Maybe 70 or 80 turns would have been more appropriate seeing as its marked as EASY.

If I had played this 6 years ago, I would been impressed, but after seeing what else is out there in respect to this genre of flash game, it prompts me to say that this game...

Does NOT deliver.
