Reviews for "Battle Star Empire"

Over the top

You went a touch over the top with the effects, I tryed on easy and between the resource theif every 3 turns and the attacks every 5th turn I rarely got past day 30 with 1 age upgrade. Also you might want to think outside the box a bit more, I mean like ... Wood, Lumber Mills, Ore, Mines, Wonder, Ages ..... its obvious the idea was based around Age of Empires.

Fun once you get the hang of it

I didn't understand it at first and lost the first game, but now I won.
If you want the cheats for this game (they are displayed at the end also)

Alot could be done to improve this game

After I played this game multiple times, I saw many flaws that could be improved to increase the popularity of this game.

For one, the amount of times you are attacked should be decreased. It is possible to actually be attacked every turn, which makes it so you can't get to far.

Another thing that would be good to see is that the chances of being robbed are also lessened. Every 3 turns I was robbed, which frustrated me a great deal because it took me longer to get the resources I needed.

Lastly, a tutorial would be a grand idea. It seems that alot of people are rating this game down because they can't understand it. You should tell them how to gain the new buildings and other things like that. Enough so they can get the basic idea of how to play, because those instructions in the beginning didn't help any.

If I do see these things in the future, I will rate the game higher

like age of empires

the game felt like age of empires with its resource collecting, but thats a good thing.
a bad part was the lack of explanation

Not bad, instructions are a bit unclear

The instructions state you need workers, but fail to mention that resources gained per turn is directly proportional to the number of workers you have.
I think this is the source of most of the complaints, since most people then try to get resources solely by building more buildings, which is an inefficient method of gaining resources to say the least.
Also, why not simply give the win screen the turn after a wonder is created? It seems rather pointless to make the player go through the remaining turns with nothing to do.
The combat is pretty pointless. Both because when you can actually fight it is not at all fun (kind of like Risk but less balanced and interesting) and with enough buildings and workers the resources gained in one turn heal any damage the enemy could do several hundred times over.
There's really no one to beat, no opponent, which is usually where most of the fun comes from in games like these. If you could send soldiers out to wreck an opponent's resources or buildings, or if they could do the same that might help. But with the current combat scheme that would be pretty much impossible to implement well. Sorry I can't think of an elegant way of adding that.
All in all, a fun, albeit brief, game, but just not enough to do.
