Reviews for "Spitfire 1940"

An excellent game

I really enjoyed the strategic aspects - allocating recruits, choosing where to defend (especially at the beginning where you don't have much intelligence). It was harrowing at times and receiving a lucky bonus (+10 pilots, double factory output) at the right time saved me; although towards the end I feel like I was only receiving negative bonuses (no new recruits, no factory output, etc.).

The first suggestion I would make is tying some of the positive/negative bonuses to what happens rather than just be random. During mid-game I successfully defended 4 areas from major attacks (losing a lot in the process) only to be hit with the negative morale - no new recruits. Such a defense should have produced some positive morale.

The other suggestion is the ability to build more and know more about my odds. I didn't really understand how big of a difference there was between the two planes and it seemed the more powerful plane go wiped out just as easily. As for building more - what about flak cannons (or other air defense) that would be restricted in the same sense of the pilots/spies (you cannot move it from where you build it).

The hints and tips button provides neither which is a disappointment.

It's a fun game, but certainly not without its fair share of grade A game design.

First let's start on the basis of the game:
During WWII, you play the role as a British General in charge of the RAF, to defend 6 different regions of the British Isles, against German air raids.
Once you shoot down 300 German planes, you win.
If you lose 2 or more regions you lose.

Here is what I like about the game:
-The resource distribution is made very prevalent. If you Spies are not spot-on you have to make decisions on how to defend areas.
-I Like how you are given control of Infrastructure, and building planes, even though the systems put in place are minimalistic, you infrastructure can have a very big impact.\
-The interface and combat is simple, it's easy to learn the basics, and throughout multiple play-throughs you can still pick up a few tips.

Here are some things I don't like:
-The combat is fairly random, sometimes 4 planes will get shot down by 1, Spitfire or Hurricane Alike.
-You are very dependent on your spies, if the South East gets bombed, you can easily lose almost all your intelligence, creating a snowball of German raids you simply cannot stop.
-In the beginning, you barely start with any resources, and if you don't put your initial supplies into recruiters, you will not win the game.

I like it because I am very fond of the Time Period, and I like Planes regardless. But I can easily see why this game is not for you.

Good game but....

It's a fun game, but I keep getting the "allow more memory" thing. For some reason I can't click on it.

I dont get it.

I sent out all my fighters against the first wave. Everyone of my planes were shot down. Every day after that I could build at most one plane at a time and it was always shot down if I guessed the right spot.

If I guess wrong a few times I would get up to 4 spitfires and they were always shot down.

I just don't get it and don't feel like trying to.

Well,its good game...

Kinda good, but its just too hard.My planes always get shot,I dont have enougth recruits and enemies are overpowered.Just some changes to make it easier could make me give 10/10 and 5/5.I hate games that are really hard.
