Reviews for "galactic hunter"

I'll elaborate

... on why folks find this boring.

* As rounds go by the same enemies get thrown at you, just more of them.

* The bullets / weapons all look the same (both enemy and friendly ... just small and big bullets...occasional sniper bullet)

* You have to choose between laying tactical gadgets or upgrading your personal weapons, so there's little incentive to lay gadgets, since they blow up over time while points spent on yourself are permanent. So, that removes the tactical gadget side of the game.

* The scenery never changes.

* The enemies all look-alike (same colors / design ... which I don't mind, since I can tell what's what)

* It's slow. I don't mean laggy, just that the action is slow. Shoot, dodge stuff, fly around. But it doesn't happen in an overly exciting way. The main character flies so slow it's hard to dodge bullets sometimes.

Folks complaining about a tut..I can understand. Took me several rounds to figure out how to switch my main weapon (look at top of screen, and click on the new weapon). While there's tool-tip pop-ups for the gadgets to let you know what they do, there's none for the main guns. So, you have to save up SP to buy 30-40sp weapons like Shotgun just to find out it's a short-range spread weapon. There was also no explanation that there's a separation between SP and XP (?) ... SP is spent to upgrade your health, shields, regen rate & buy main guns ... XP is spent to upgrade guns and buy gadgets. (Hence, people would rather permanently upgrade a gun then waste the points on a disposable gadget.)

Likewise, I didn't realize you had to upgrade main guns to unlock a "gun tree". IE: I dumped points into SINGLE, and then Double & MG show up. I thought that was automatically unlocked the same way new gadgets were automatically unlocked. But I later realized they unlocked b/c I was spending XP to upgrade the main guns (IE: I noticed after I dumped a s**tload of points into Double that Shotgun & Triple unlocked).

Speaking of...I didn't notice any difference in upgrading the main guns & gadgets. I sunk a good 1000+ points into Double, and didn't notice a damage improvement. I sunk points into Cannon and didn't see a difference. It's this lack of "change" that is disturbing some folks. When folks upgrade things, they want some kind of visual and/or audio queue noting such, like it shoots bigger, different-colored bullets now or something...something to let them know a change has occurred.

I think that gets to the heart of it there. There's a lot of upgrades on this game, but you don't see much change.

Since I've basically outlined a "tut" with my complaints (sorry), I might as well explain other things...

* Your shield doesn't recharge. Once it goes down, it takes a bit to come back up. Once it does, it has to fully deplete again to go away then cool down to come back up. Point in Shield just makes it last longer / take more damage.

* Your health does regen, and even with just a few SP put into regen rate it regens at a pretty decent rate.

* Single / Double / Triple seem to have very long range shots. MG & Shotgun have short range shots, but fast fire / more spread, respectively. Laser & Sniper I have no clue...I didn't build out that side of the tree, since shooting directly in front of me meant I'd be in the way of oncoming fire. Hence I went with spread-shots like Double.

* Your gadgets have a life-span, and seem to only cover the left-side of the battle field. They require XP "points" to deploy. They will die, but if you get enough over there they can chew up a lot of things.

So I think the gadgets and main guns upgrading differently throws people off. You automatically get new gadgets, but you have to put points into main guns to unlock more guns. And you have to spend SP to upgrade certain things and "Points" (XP?) to upgrade others. It seems a bit overly complicated and obscure.

With all that said, it was an ok game.

well made but

well made but highly boring.

Great game

Awesome concept, well put together. It get's a little bit stale fast but I can overlook it.

Side note: What with people saying "THEre'S No TUtoRIaL OmG!!!!" It's called the fucking help button. It's on the main goddamn menu. What, you're upset because he didn't feed it to you and you just HAPPEN to not be able to read? Fuck. Keep up the good work fort.

Fun, but gets old quick.

I love sidescrolling shooters, and this one gets your hopes up with upgrades and leveling, but then you realize five minutes in that this is as fun as it gets.

Tutorial?

I started over twice just to make sure the tutorial option was on.
There was nearly no explanation for the various elements of game play.

Of coure, the english was bad.

Eh...
