Thoroughly Enjoyable
I really enjoyed this game. At its core, it's really just a simple Mario-style platformer. You jump around between platforms, collect coins, hunt down items, and jump on top of enemies (or avoid them). But this simple engine is just plain done well. The music is cute and fits the scene, the graphics suit the theme well, and the absurdist humor is a nice touch. The only negative, and this is a very, very slight negative, is that the game starts to drag on a little bit. It's not too long, per se. It's just a lot of the exact same gameplay without some other stuff to break it up.
But gamers who love the exploring aspect will really enjoy hunting down all of the items, which take the form of coins, actual items used to prepare unworthy sack of horse manure you control for his big date, dating tips, employment tasks, and factoids about the girl. I was really thorough and got the best ending and 100% completion my first time through, and enjoyed the whole ride (though exploring for those last few items in the 2nd and 3rd levels required a lot of backtracking to find what I missed). I'm not mesmerized enough by the game to play it through 4 more times to get the other endings, trying to figure out exactly how much I have to deliberately not do to get them. But seriously, this is a smooth game. Anybody who doesn't try it is missing out.
