Reviews for "You Are Disabled"

(Just had to log in to leave a review) Well, as a political/philosophical/metaphorical (what have you) piece of art this game is great. It's has a moving message gets to the point quickly and communicates that point quite eloquently through both story and the frustration induced by the game play itself (I started with crippled). It is also frank enough as to not go over most users heads.

From a game perspective it actually was quite fun to play. For the most part it was challenging and frustrating but not frustrating enough that my frustration outweighed my engagement in the game and wanting to see the rest of the content... for the most part. I'm aware others have already stated this but parts of this game (as a game) are in fact broken. I do understand that the frustration induced by the difficulty of the game play is part of the point you're trying to get across but your message will do no good if people get to fed up with the game to bother seeing it through. I think it might, as the very least, be helpful to have players start as the cripple by default. For me that was the part that got me hooked invested enough in the game to keep playing even when it became more frustrating due to the game mechanics. I really doubt I would have continued playing had I started with blindness or spastic because I wouldn't been to frustrated and distracted by the game play to actually see the statement you were trying to me.

Overall despite the game play flaws that in my opinion could use some ironing out I think this is a really unique gem of a game.

P.S. I am also aware this game was made under a time limit but that's no reason not to keep working on it. With some gameplay improvements I think this game could score quite a large audience.

Best of luck and merry Christmas,

just some guy.

My thought was that if someone quit the game because it was too frustrating, they'd get mad at the fact that disabilities exist and that sometimes the odds are stacked against the less fortunate.

Thank you very much for playing and leaving feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.

Alright welp this game had a lot of potential and a lot of good ideas but they ultimately fell flat. The controls were the biggest flaw where they would often lock or just stop working all together. (This happened most with the illiterate guy.) Secondly I don't get what you are trying to tell me with this game.

I'm more curious to as what you describe as a disability because illiteracy isn't so much a disability (Unless you were thinking of dyslexia in which case I apologize.) The game design isn't that very engaging at all. I didn't feel any need to progress or go on other than to complete another dragging through the mud platforming section.

Is the game good? No. Is it the worst thing ever? Nah. It isn't really much of anything.

Secondly: A 72 hour challenge isn't an excuse for a poor game. I've seen amazing things come out of that challenge and using that as a shield for this game is probably the worst part thus far.

tl;dr fix the controls, story, learn what a disability actually is, and understand what it means to deliver a message. (If any)

no spastic is to much

There needs to be a way to speed through text. Desperately.

You can walk on the top of the screen. I presume this is a glitch.

Also, on one screen I managed to jump down to the platform below and then jump back to the screen before, underneath the entrance. And then I was walking inside a wall. It was crazy.

I'm really sorry for the way people are treating you in the comments section.

This game was almost impossible, depressing, infuriating, and saddening...and I loved it. It really makes you appreciate being born fully-abled, and to respect those who are unfortunate enough to be born with a disability.

Yes, it was nearly impossible, SPECIALLY if you begin with Near Blinded, like I did. Because you have NO idea how the stages look like, unlike if you start with any of the other disabilities. But I passed all of it. (...unfortunately i was stupid and didnt realize i wasnt logged in, so i didnt get the medals...oh well).

What really kept me going too is that, even though the stages were all the same, the experience was completely different with every disability. It really made me FEEL how it could be to be disabled in this cruel world. Also, that every ending is different, depending on the disability.

Great job, and I hope, you keep doing wonderful games like this.

P.s., just so you don't feel bad, pretend that all the assholes that are rating the game 0 stars for no good reason, just pretend that they're all the wizard pricks from your game. xD
