So, we find out who wins this round on August 1st? And then the winners have until August 16th to make their final song?

The winners of this round are announced on the 1st, but you only have until the 12th to make your piece if you make it to the Final Round. The winners will be announced on the 16th.

Quick question; do I have to source the samples used, all the way down to it's creator/link or to the website where I got it from?

Alright, sounds good.

That is ideal, yes, please. Just to make sure you're not violating any copyright claims. ;)

This is my submission. I'm too lazy to make anything better. Not very confident
Sources used are basic stuff that comes with the demo version of FL Studio and the free Kontakt player.
After much deliberation with the naming, here it is.
Unpublished Submission
Alright. Song I worked on all week is garbage. Making another one :P
Here's my submission http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/695174 I'm going on a camping trip tomorrow and I come back the day the submissions are due, So I had to put literally ALL of my time into this, I stayed up all night long yesterday working on this, anyways here it is. Let's hope I make it to the next and final round :D
Here is myKnock Out RoundSubmission with an extremely appropriate title:
I am proud to have started and finished this despite my tight schedule.
And... First draft! Woohoo!
I've been listening to the entries so far, and some of them are really good! Do I have a chance in this competition? Maybe not. But at least I managed to make something for it! I've done a lot of things that I normally don't do... that, at least, is an accomplishment for me!
Of course, I'll continue editing and fixing things in this piece until the deadline arrives. Good luck to everyone else in All-Stars! :)
I changed my mind!
This will be my NEW submission for the contest. I did start working on it after Pleasant Phantom, so this should be good.
Here we go!
I'm pretty happy with this one. It's about 95% real instruments - from the horns to the vocals to the drums - I just used a little bit of Sylenth1 in the chorus, and UVI True Keys for the piano. Since I don't have an acoustic piano, that's the next best thing.
Best of luck to my fellow professional amateurs!
Screwed around designing neurofunk basses for ages yesterday and then just started something melodic. topkek.
I'm extremely sad to say I won't be able to have a song completed by the deadline. FL Studio refuses to work for me, and I've probably crashed it 100 times in the past week while trying to finish a song. Unfortunately, there's no way I'll be able to finish a song by the 27th. Apologies to the judges, but good luck to everyone else competing.
I make music.
Well! After 3 aborted D'n B projects, I start a brand new piano composition. Let's take a shot of Vodka, maybe it will help :3

That's too bad, man! Well, good luck with your future work. I hope FL Studio treats you better going forward. ;(

I wish I would've had more time to work on this, but I need to enjoy a vacation abroad ;'D
Either way, here's my somewhat odd submission for the knock-out round:
Good luck to everyone ^ ^

It's bad, it's sad :( Could you use someone else computer just to finish your project? Or if it's almost completed, maybe someone here can export your actual FL file in mp3.

@TaintedLogic - Just to clarify, is the 8 Minutes figure the maximum allowed or just a general guideline? Unless I jig things around abit this piece might end up going over the limit. Just want to know before I end up making something longer and then finding out I get DQ'd haha.
The 8-minute max is just a loose guideline. :) As long as your piece is both well-varied and coherent, the length shouldn't be a problem.

My internet has decided it doesn't like my laptop and my favorite plugin which is more than half of my project is deciding not to load.
Fuck.
Let's go.
Super proud of this. The complextro came out of nowhere but I'm really happy with it. Totally didn't lose sleep writing the track in one night.
I had a little bit of time today to put something together! :D
Took some time. Kind of last minute but it's something. Advantages of using gameboy for composing: can bring your gameboy wherever you need to go.

i don't know how to take that picture down, didn't know it was going to be so large. I immediately regret that decision.
Quick question about how scoring works -
Let's say 5 people tied for 4th place in the underdog group with the same average score from all the judges. What/who would decide who gets to advance to the final round?
