Actually, nobody that i've ever met phisically knows anything about Newgrounds, which, you know, sucks. I've actually tried many times to show it to people, but it seems almost nobody over my city interests in a place like Newgrounds, or I just haven't gone to the right people, who knows

Never heard of it and has no interest in hearing about it because it's not Twitter/Facebook/Tiktok/Instagram

Or

Remembers it fondly as that place they used to go to back in the day for flash games and animations, but is dismissive when I tell them we still have an active community and lots of cool NEW stuff here, again because it's not Twitter/Facebook/Tiktok/Instagram

I once showed one of my animations to my artist friend, I told her that I didn't post it on youtube and posted it on "another website" bc I assumed she didn't knew what newgrounds is, but then she was scrolling through my profile and said "yeah, don't worry, I know this site"

But that's an odd case bc some other of my geeky friends don't remember newgrounds. When it comes to the other 90% of my school or people I know in general, I'm pretty sure they don't even know what it is, I believe that NG has always stayed more underground, so yeah.

I remember bringing up Newgrounds to my older brother a while ago, same person I learned about NG from in the first place all those years ago. He was surprised the website is still around, mostly remembering the Flash games. I also brought up Ruffle and Flash Forward and such.

I've also brought up Newgrounds again recently with my parents. The way I described it I think I gave them the impression it was just like any other art site, though maybe that's not the most accurate given the site's history and culture. One of my IRL friends does actually have an account here on Newgrounds too.

I used to see a lot of people on twitter saying NG is for tasteless edgelords but that's fine. I don't think many people here want them. Also I'm a tasteless edgelord

I'm from czech republic and newer in my life did I meet someone who knew what ng is.

Except for one guy who thought that it's some flash porn website, and my classmates. They know it as that website I'm still talking about.

I've only talked to one person about Newgrounds and that's my sister. She uses Tumblr and she just sees Newgrounds as kinda the same as Tumblr: a site that isn't used as much as it once was, which has now made the people who do use it some chill people you feel comfortable around.

While I haven't talk about it to him, my brother sees NG when mentioned as, "That old unfunny flash cartoon site," which just kinda annoys me to be honest.

i always talk to my sister about everything. when i say i don’t know nobody else that knows ng, my sister knows everything, i just exclude her out of that category cuz i always talk to her abt everything :)

Ironically enough, I don't think I've EVER met someone irl that knows about NG. It's always peeps online that know about it.

I think people have three average responses. 1: "Tf is a Newgrounds." 2: "oh shit that's cool." and 3: Strange looks. I'm currently enrolled in uni and a lot of art majors praise Instagram is the place to upload art and to find other artist. some of the professors agree while others don't like the platform but are on it. I personally fucking hate Instagram for uploading art but it has a lot of people and a lot of reach and a lot of local events are announced and advertised there in my section of America. I remember telling one of my classmates I upload my stuff on Newgrounds and I got a strange look. I think the reputation of being a "little edgy" has turn a lot of people off. A suppose a question that conjures up a lot of people's head when it comes to artist is where do you want community? Local scenes are great but I think a lot of people jive with internet communities if it's niche shit or things in their immediate area that people don't care for.

But then again, I can go "You use Twitter? [Now X] Isn't that site filled with [Insert cupcake joke here]?"

But I just explain the site to non-knowers as an art, music, animation, and more site.

I always promote it positively though since it has moved on from that general internet period of being hateful towards others with no justification necessary. And that being the norm then.

When I talk about Newgrounds with colleagues I often get a "Wow is that still going?"

I personally love that it's quite a self contained and unique community. I rarely worry about what people think :)

i love that too about NG and yeah idc what ppl think too but i only worry bc the people that I know who thinks that NG is a “weird” site are like my friends and some family so it’s awkward for me
