It was so nice seeing him post lately... his paintings were such a treat, not only for the artworks themselves, but for a glimpse in his day-of-the-life, and as a reminder that he was still out there doing his thing. Which makes this news even harder to accept...

He had such a unique style & flair that holds up to this day. That he's gone so suddenly really stings.

I remember playing Ultimate Crab Battle when I was a young kid, only finally completing the game this year.

I haven't heard of the rest shown and only knowing Miami Shark by name, but they definitely will be missed and I will try them out.

sorry i'm here, i'm busy doing absolutely nothing at all...

very sad to hear! Castle Cat is one of my earliest memories of the site before I even had an account.

It saddens me to learn that Felix has ceased to be. I've always been a big fan of his games, starting with PowerFox in my early years on this website. He was very smart and extremely talented, with a vivid imagination to match. Like many others, I've spent countless hours enjoying his creations, which were just the perfect blend of competitive gameplay and humor . My favourite series of his has to be the Shark related games. Wiesi, you will be missed. Thank you for all that you have made, Newgrounds would not have been the same without you.

It saddens me that wiesi has passed, especially now that i knew he was an author of both The shark and castle cat games, even if these were admittedly short they were fun to play, especially when they came out.

Never met this guy and hisprojects somehow, but just by looking at this post I can say he was a great guy for sure.

RIP Wiesi, I didn't know you, but others will definitely remember you and your work.

I once had the highest score on Squirrel Squash 2, and Castle Cat 3 holds a deep spot in my heart. His style was unique and original. A signature style that only he could pull off.

This hits hard, just like when we lost Randy Solem a decade ago. I can't believe this.

Wow thats unfortunate, I used to love his Frank Adventure games. Recently I was planning on posting Franks Adventure and that Nicholas Mall game to see if there were any similar old games.

RIP

As a kid I always switched back and forth from Kongregate, Armor Games to NG and other Flash sites

just to play Shark series. The most fun I've ever had whenever I had the opportunity to visit few of his titles.

And I can't thank enough for blessing my childhood with such wonderful memories and Wiesi did grant me having such fond and fun times.

It's truly tragic, he'll go as a hero in our hearts. May he rest in peace.

I loved getting the NG Medals in the shark games.

Wish I got to know him better.

Oh no way. Wiesi's games were a big part of my childhood. Everytime he had a game on front page, it was easy to identify and be like "YOOO ITS WIESI!". Back in the day in the Phillippines when I was stuck at home, and had extremely slow internet, I would spend almost an hour just to load his flash games. We appreciated it so much, the shark from his game series ended up in Rushdown Rivals.

Thank you for all of the good times and memories Wiesi. I hope you are resting easy.

Wiesi's games were so frantic but well designed, it was like getting to play an arcade machine with unlimited credits. Rest in peace bud.

Wiesi is best known around here for the legendary games he made, here’s a few:

Something I really appreciated about Wiesi was that he would drop in on the forums over the years and reply to my news posts. Anyone who has been on NG long-term knows we went through some tough years after the combined impact of the YouTube migration, the Death of Flash and rise of mobile games and apps. Seeing Wiesi in the replies was always a bright spot for me and motivation to keep going. It’s upsetting to think I won’t be seeing him anymore but also a reminder of how a small reply can go a long way in helping people feel seen.

This past year, Felix shared an unfinished game and art made with alcohol markers. He also continued to make encouraging posts, cheering on other artists and ongoing progress with Flash emulation. I wish I could have one more chance to thank Felix for all his positive contributions to NG.

I’ve updated the In Memoriam page and made a long-overdue Sharks series page.

I'm gonna tell myself this is Felix right now:

If you have some favorite Wiesi memories, feel welcome to share them here!

Wiesi is an incredibly important part of Flash games and we're so fortunate to have had so many wonderful games from them. Epic Crab Battle will always be among my favorite games ever ❤️

Man, this is depressing. Wiesi was one of the greats, I don't know how to express how much I liked his style of game design. He had a real sense for arcade-like action which is not easy to master. I LOVED his games and looked forward to everything he created. He and I chatted a bit in recent years privately and I had hoped to collab with him on something. This is way too soon for how much more I think he had to offer us. This is a great loss to the gaming community. You'll be sorely missed Wiesi. 😭😭😭

Response to Wiesi, 1977-2023 2023-11-17 13:37:27

Wow, I'm very surprised that Wiesi passed and that he was 46 (or 45 at this case). I used to play Frank's Adventure 1 (I found it at Cool-games, it's a very old website that used to host old flash games in the early to mid 00's), then later on I used to play the Shark series on here (including the one, that you have to stay on the Shark for more than 10 seconds), boy it was hard getting every boat for the medals and I had lots of fun playing the games.

Rest in peace Wiesi, you've made the oddest games that I've ever played on here.

I.... I don't know what to say.

I never interacted with Wiesi in any meaningful manner, but his works were an inspiration and delight for me, especially during my younger years. I'm gonna miss him.

Oh my God, what a devastating news, Wiesi Mausland died? 46 years, so young...

Rest in Peace, a great NG contributor, with so great games maked and memories, you always will be a legend and will be remembered.
