I last spoke to him about being on The Interviewer. I sent the questions his way and he said he would get to them as soon as he could, because he was sick. He didn't tell me why he was sick though. I was able to learn that he was doing stuff on the site like Frank's Adventure and Aggressive Alpine Skiing before he even began work on the Shark Series.

That just sucks to hear. He was an absolute constant on the site, a Newgrounds OG for sure. We've been losing too many people lately.

i hope he is in heaven. he was so nice and his games brought me so much joy. and it sucks he died only at his 40s.

Not only the Duck Spray will be unfinished, but it looked like he was going to make Castle Cat 5.

May he rest in peace.

Wiesi is best known around here for the legendary games he made, here’s a few:

Something I really appreciated about Wiesi was that he would drop in on the forums over the years and reply to my news posts. Anyone who has been on NG long-term knows we went through some tough years after the combined impact of the YouTube migration, the Death of Flash and rise of mobile games and apps. Seeing Wiesi in the replies was always a bright spot for me and motivation to keep going. It’s upsetting to think I won’t be seeing him anymore but also a reminder of how a small reply can go a long way in helping people feel seen.

This past year, Felix shared an unfinished game and art made with alcohol markers. He also continued to make encouraging posts, cheering on other artists and ongoing progress with Flash emulation. I wish I could have one more chance to thank Felix for all his positive contributions to NG.

I’ve updated the In Memoriam page and made a long-overdue Sharks series page.

I'm gonna tell myself this is Felix right now:

ok tom fulp made memorial page for contributed NG users so i wonder like how to tell if someone really did passed away as NG contributor user? i do don't know much about these users, but even if i would know them well, i wouldn't know 100% if they did pass away, i think it just depends on if someone who is close to someone would tell this into social media, i think if some NG contributors were inactive from social media for no reason why on website sources, then we can't tell 100%

Holy shit, I remember playing his games growing up on here.... especially the ones I wasn't even supposed to be playing haha. I fondly remember "Stardust" as a kid, especially since it had See-Saw's "Yasashii Yoake" in the credits and that was my first time hearing the song. :c He had such a presence on this site and it was so surreal hearing the news of his passing.... may he rest in peace.

Adding on to my post, here's some old footage I recorded of his "Stardust" game back in 2020 when I thought Flash was gonna be completely discontinued. Seeing it still makes me nostalgic :c

R.I.P Wiesi... Thanks for nostalgic games like Castle Cat, Indiana Jones, Miami Shark, Power Fox, Stardust and "Tornado Simulator". A mention also for the Adult ones like Frank's Adventure, Speedmaster and Walking Beauty.

I remember playing his shark games when I was younger at school, it was such a fun time. He seemed like a genuinely good man. May he rest in peace.

Still pretty bummed out by this. I have alot of respect for game devs that stuck around when everyone and their mum were fleeing game development when the sponsorship honeymoon ended but people like him continued pressing on and making bangers.

I hope he was able to realize how important and loved his work was while he was around.

I think its always such a massive thrill when you are a favorite amongst other game developers themselves. That's huge when your own peers respect and love the work you put into it.

RIP

Its exactly this. His games take me back to being a kid on summer holiday playing arcade machines on the seafront. Its a vibe I've not really seen replicated by anyone else. The graphics, gameplay and audio all just come together to create these incredibly fun packages. He was a huge talent.

Duck Spray is a fun game. I really like the humour of the walk circle and the sounds. There was always stuff in the back ground in his Shark games that I always liked. Kinda reminds me of Where’s Waldo? In a good way. RIP Wiesi.

Sad news indeed, I played a bunch of his games on my first Newgrounds years, those really left an impression, such a fitting example of the "Newgrounds DNA" for me, if I had to pick, these 2 were my jam:

His games remain a blend of destruction and chaos, but always comedic and fun, not an easy blend to achieve, I don't have much else to add other than I think I'll replay a few now.

Damn sad to see him go, it wasnt that long ago I saw him active. Will never forget his games, the shark-games are just classics and I will never forget back I think when NG got forum editing options, he tried it out on replying to my comment first, felling me first to f*** my self and then just a minute later changed it into offering me a beer instead (and then possible deleted it because I cannot find it anymore). He made my day that day for sure :) Same of course whenever he would release any of his many fun titles. Hell its crazy that he had not one but two very well remembered accounts, castle cats and franks adventure on his old one and the shark games on his newer account among plenty others.

He surely will be missed though. Will have to grab that beer another time. Rip
