Do you think the Minecraft movie will failed or succeed? 2024-09-09 11:03:04 (edited 2024-09-09 11:03:25)
Especially with the infamous movie Teaser it presented

I predict $34.1m opening weekend
so not a failure but not a huge success

Not unlike Borderlands

The backlash is mostly from adults, but it's the 10 year olds that will decide if it succeeds or flops. Something tells me they think it's lame, so the movie will be lucky if it breaks even.

Do kids play Minecraft when Fortnite and Roblox are still going?
i think it’s gonna either flop or have mediocre returns in the box office. i don’t think it’ll flop as hard as something like the borderlands movie, but i can’t see it making anything more than what’s juuuust needed to qualify this thing as a successful movie
a movie like this mainly hinges on appealing to younger crowds (so children and young adults ranging from about 10-18) but with the way this movie is going viral for how bad it looks, i think kids would be dissuaded from seeing it. not just because people are talking bad about it, but also because i think some kids would be genuinely horrified/put off by the animal models.
not to mention that some of the more “redeeming” qualities of the trailer like the featured actors aren’t exactly gripping to children. if they had more pop culture icons or celebrities who were more relevant to younger audiences, i think that would earn them more ticket sales

also yes!! i’d say all three games still have a very large audience of children even now. i don’t think it was as popular with kids as it was a couple of years ago during its “prime” but there are still plenty of kids on that game

Some do, I know my moms friends kids like the game
Jack Black knows what he's doing. Chances are it will be a huge success for the children, but the adult audience it always depends on the jokes and the plot of the movie.
Jack Black is 10 times better in voice acting in animation movies. I dunno what they though in their heads.
There going the "Ugly sonic" way of advertising I think
Like him or not, Jack Black's going to carry this movie harder than Jim Carrey is doing for the Sonic movies. Let's not kid ourselves.
it will make all the money in the world based on name alone
All I know is, I'm not watching it and my neighbours kids think it looks creepy.
This is one of those movies where the kids and families may keep it afloat, but not by much. Most of the negative press seem to come from adults anyway that probably either outgrew it or view it as a sacred cow that shouldn't be adapted or whatever.
Of course, the court of public opinion has to pretend to a have a spotless record of judgements because reasons.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.
Movies based on cultural hot trends often come out too late to catch on, and just as often do something inexplicably terrible to drive away fence sitters.
First film to Mine $1,000,000,000 opening weekend.
Oh yeah, it's Crafting Time.

I think it's not gonna flop just because people would go watch that movie just to see exactly what that is. Maybe to laugh at it, idk.

im sure it'll print money, regardless of the criticism. a good number of people i know have said they want to see it "just to see how bad it is" which is still giving the studio money, after all. I'm more concerned about this effecting the game itself. hopefully any movie inspired additions will be restricted to bedrock marketplace and the java edition will continue development as usual

I'm very curious to see how much heavy lifting the younger audience does in terms of profits. i don't think the movie totally bombing is a realistic outcome, but I've seen on twitter/reddit people talking about how their younger kids aren't impressed for the same reasons you gave here

Very very doubtful, still gonna see it to find out what the hell they're gonna do with this...
>steve's eyes suddenly glow white
>he smiles and starts to laugh manically
>he turns to the camera
>"I'm a brine, but I'm no hero."
and just like that, $100 million at the box office.
Economically no but yes in everything else lol
And i thought the resident evil live action movies are horrible but I don’t really much care much for the minecraft movie
To be honest I think it's a 50 50 chance that it could succeed. Although I never watched the trailer itself, I feel like Minecraft should not be made into a movie since the whole game should be about imagination, as making a whole plot could ruin it all. Of course as of late, Hollywood in general has been making shitty movies in general with a few exceptions. So if this is an exception, only time will tell, but I am not going to see it most likely.

Well Jack Black voiced Claptrap and look how that turned out

With how Warner Bros Discovery is doing, it's very unlikely

Well both the Monster Hunter and Borderlands movies are as horrible as the Resident Evil film series

SO does it mean we own Minecraft story mode an apology?

Maybe, yes, because at least Story Mode did not attempt to create any new lore for the Creepers, Zombies or anything else in Minecraft.
