Wether you are fan of the books or the movies, this is the place to discuss theories and ideas based on J.K Rowlings Harry Potter series.

If you have any good Harry Potter fan sites that you run or know of, then please do share them, as long as they are not 100% forum based (thats what this club is for). Goto The Sorting Hat and tell us which house you got sorted into.

Feel free to make Harry Potter signature pics or request them here also, it would be good if we could get some talented photshoppers to take requests every now and again.

So share your theories and ideas about the upcoming final book. Or your thoughts on the last three movies and the upcoming Goblet of fire movie.

Any spammers will have their posts deleted and be banned, no fucking around in here, this is for serious Harry Potter fans.

Oh goodness, I would have assumed a Harry Potter club already existed, but perhaps not :P

I'll join up, though I probably won't be joining in any discussions soon, because I'm only half way through the second book.

I got put in Ravenclaw, by the way.

I've been refurbished and reissued, prepackaged and precooked, decontaminated and deloused, but I still smell, sound, look and feel like shit.

New to the video game forums?

There was one, but it was lame and wasnt very serious. So yeah heres the new and improved version.

I'll join up, though I probably won't be joining in any discussions soon, because I'm only half way through the second book.

Hope no-one spoils anything for you. I'm sure you'll catch up soon enough, I pretty much read the first 4 books in two weeks.

Aha, the smart house huh? I was sorted into slytherin.

I'll be careful when looking at the thread. I'm not too worried.

You dirty snake >:(

So far Ravenclaw is a pretty neglected house. You don't hear much of them from the books (At least the first one, and half of the second). And I've seen the movies, and don't see many references to Ravenclaw. Shit, Hufflepuff gets more recognition :(

I do actually have something I wanted to bring up. When Nearly Headless Nick has his 500th deathday party in Chamber of Secrets, he says he died on October 31st, 1492. So, does that mean the first Harry Potter book takes place in 1991? I always thought it took place in a "present time" kind of thing, but apparently it starts in 1991. I guess it's not much of a question, I'm just wondering if that's correct.

I would actually think yes as J.K was writing the books as she was pregnant with her daughter and I think her daughter is around 12 now.

Well she actually started writing the Philosopher's(Sorcerers) Stone in 1990, but it wasnt published until 1996, so really it was originally written to begin in the early 90's but didnt get published until the late 90's.

I read the first four novels back to back, but once Goblet of Fire was released, I had forgotten most of the characters and previous sub plots and had alot of trouble getting back into it - the HP groove that is.

I feel anxious that I've fallen behind, not reading the fifth, and now with the sixth novel out. I'm also dissapointed, because I planned to give the whole series another go so I could catch up and seek bliss in Harry Potter's world as I used to, but I was shot down when I came across a few spoilers (for the 6th novel)... on the fucking BBS -- of course!

Even if I discovered the plot twists early, there is still a wholesome novel waiting to be read. I saw Star Wars however many years ago with the knowledge that Darth was Luke's father, yet I still enjoyed the film with that in mind.

Good luck with the crew, TBF. You've got the power to shun out idiocy completey, so I won't even doubt you for a minute. Maybe if I dive back into the books some time I'll join up.

Dont let those few spoilers ruin the exp for you, so much is still unanswered and wont be until the final book. So you should start reading again. :)

Even so, there is so much stuff revealed that we never knew in those 2 books that is valuable information, I would suggest to read them and get right back on track!

I agree, I mean its probably going to be at least another two years before the final book is published, so that gives anyone plently of time to play catch up. I'm sure once everyone has read all the first 6 books, they will have a lot of speculative questions, which is why I wanted to start this club so we could all discuss our theories. :)

I am hoping by early 2007 it will be out cause I am so anxious to see what happens with Harry and him not going to Hogwarts so he could hunt down the Horucruxes.
I have a theory about them. I have a feeling that he will find out that he is one of the Horucruxes and when all the other horucruxes are destroyed he will have to kill himself for voldemort to die.
discuss..

Yea, the GOF is really dark. What with the Maze, Voldemort coming back, Cedric getting killed etc etc...

I agree with both of you, but it's that initial hump I'll need to get over first to read the series again. I'll be happy once I'm sucked in, though. JKR illustrates a vivid world I can't pass up once my eyes become glued to the pages.

:D

Oh my, it will be interesting seeing how they can fit about 600 pages into a 3 hour movie. My guess is that it will only show the Tri-Wizard Cup, cutting out all the other bits and pieces. Maybe they will make it a two part movie, like 3 hours for the first part and 2 for the second part. I mean, even the first movie left out alot from the first book, not to mention how lost most people were after watching the movie THEN reading the book.

And speaking of, I just watched the 2nd movie for the 10th or so time. Poor Gilderoy. :*)

Hey, I'll join up here for the sake of it TBF, seeing as I enjoy Harry Potter books and I'd be a good way to stay away from nonsesical illiterate users ranting how awful it is; even though they hardly read and have only seen films on a probable scale.

I was re-reading the forth book once again for personal reasons so I could jump up to the next two in the series, but isn't too exciting now with all these damn spoilers that I constantly hear of. :(
Anyways, I enjoy discussing the storyline, which is quite complex while observing it at an focused analytical sense. By the way, I got sorted into Ravenclaw; I always though I'd end up there considering my personality.

I dont think it will be two part but I do have an idea, I think in the theatre it will be just about the tri wizard cup but when the dvd comes out they will have maybe like alot of extra footage. But i mean in the preview they did have people at the ball, and we do meat madame maxine.

I beg to differ, I think 5 and 6 are the best cause they are so in-depth and reveal so much valuable information. Bokk 2 in my mind is the worst!

The best HP site on the net is this

Yeah im a fan of the potter series. Does anyone have any ideas who R.A.B is?

Everyone is saying its Regulus Black. On the note RAB left didn't he call Voldemort "the dark lord"? and weren't the Death Eaters the only people who called him that? And wasn't Regulus Black a Death Eater?

It is they mentioned him in the beginning of the book. But maybe I am wrong, we will just have to wait for Book 7 to come out!
