First off, when did ZekeySpaceyLizard, the author of -MASS-, ever mention himself in his flash? Zekey doesn't exactly make super happy "flower" flashes all the time, he goes more for the random humor stuff, and some dark humor like The Morgue. I really don't think Zekey meant for the main character to be himself.
And really, look past the Newgrounds messages of the flash, and the simple line of a "forgotten artists," and you'll see there is SO much more to this flash than just that. There is the whole commercialism theme, the messages about greed and money coming into art. Also the message about art as a whole, not just the workings of this website. I mean you know the flash has to have some relevance outside of the internet when a famous quote at the end perfectly represents what the movie is all about. There is also a struggle between love and hate, and how everyone is so obsessed with the "hate" and "darkness" side of it. And there's more that I'm too dumb to pick up on, like the symbolsim of the hands and the statue and shit. And through all that, how is it that the only message you derived from it was "vote 5???"
Anyways, no thats not the reason it didn't win. The reason it didn't win was because it didn't have anything really appealing to the average user. Usually none of them want to see something that will make them think, they just want to see their favorite series. All of the flashes in the top 5 were series except yours, sir. You can bet that that's where those flashes got most of their votes.

I had a good feeling that The Ultimate Showdown was going to be number one. One thing that made me sad was that Zelda Seeds of Darkness did not make it to the top 5 games. Come on, that was the best game that month.

Well of course I saw there was other meaning to it, I've talked to members of the star sydicate regarding me joining them and such, and it's a just cause to say the least. I'm just saying that they can't really complain that their flash was right about the way newgrounds votes.

I'm really bummed that "Don't Trip" and "Monothematic" didn't even make runner up. 8-bit theater 5, damn, it was boring. A couple laughs, but not third place. The first 10 seconds in the beginning of Arfenhouse 2 was funnier. The only one of the winners I voted for was Ultimate Showdown. And DCK, I've only seen a couple, but the humor is really mean and unneccessary most of the time, it instantly gets a "meh" sticker from me.

I'm also shaking a stick at the voters. A big stick.

f00d, zeeky, and myfriendscallmebobo, all this arguing is stupid. -MASS- was good (i voted for it) and very well done, BUT myfriendscallmebobo had a good point, in that many of the people on NG are very narrow minded and dont want to think. Therefore people watch mass and think that you're whining about someone else's fame, and your unpopularity. They dont bother to think about the real meaning of it at all. Thinking challenges NGers (i know, cause like half of my games are thinking puzzle gammes and people make reviews like "Ouch dat maid my brian hurt. 2/10".)

The point of MASS was driven very well, and yes it is true. BUT the average NGer isnt a flash artist, and cant understand the effort put into some games and toons. Frankly, they dont care. Most of these are 12-15 year olds who vote on violence, humor, and boobies. (Yes, i know I'm 15. But i'm talking in general here)

It sickens me to see reviews for stuff like Littlefoot that are like "It's good but not very violent" or "WTF that wasnt funny!". One time i got a review for Magnetism 2 Demo that was like "needs boobs"

About the star syndicate, i dont have grudges against you guys, but the thing is 99% of their stuff is crap. It's just users like zeeky, F00D, and rtil that actually make good stuff for that, but they are discriminated against for being with this group.
You guys are taking a big risk being in the star Syndicate, and this is another reason why MASS lost.

SUMMARY:
Ignorant 13 year olds + Stupidity + Star Syndicate Prejudgice (sp) = MASS losing.

It's how NG works, there's no way to change that.
