Reviews for "Highgrounds"

Great game, with a very interesting twist on classic deck-building games. However, there are a couple of glaring issues with it. 1: the cost for any of the booster packs vs. the amount of gems gained is ridiculous; no one, and I mean NO ONE, likes a pay-to-win flash game. 2: the 1P campaign is too short to maintain interest for those who don't want to pay real money, or to balance them with those that do.
Without these, I would say it deserves 5/5.

This game has a lot of potential. I've been playing for a while under the name belobog and continue to make top 10 on the high scores.

Things that need to be changed or improved:

There isn't enough to do. With only two events once you finish the story it gets rather boring if you play non-stop for a long period of time. Suggestion: make three new events where you can earn new units only(no gems to keep it balanced), but make each of the events require something to play. Like make one lets say “champions guild” only playable if you are currently in the top 20. Make another “catacombs” only playable if you made rank 200 or higher for that week. And then make another one “bad lands” only playable if you completed 25 matches on king of the hill for that week. This will encourage players to play all parts of the game while having something to do. Make these events bi-daily so once every 2-3 days.

Most cities aren't being used at all and cannot be used in a competitive fashion. Make new units to balance these cities out and make them a viable option. Possibly making the events I mentioned give special random units only winnable in those events, or making powerful units with city restrictions so they can only be used in that city.

There should be no reason to earn 2 gems for earning an achievement. Make it so you can't earn less then 12 for an achievement. This will put a lot of people off and they will quit your game in frustration.
Your goal should be retention and word of mouth advertisement “oh wow I played this awesome game” not “screw that game how can you play that”?

Replace the chat box with an irc.

New, exciting, and longer story lines. The story mode in my opinion is garbage.

To keep variety, let a new player pick his starter deck so it doesn't necessarily have to be a gold base in the beginning.

If you make even 3/4ths of these changes it will be a really solid game worthy of getting my friends into.

The game starts out great almost really great but unfortunately it not only gets old fast it get impossible fast. The rate art which you get you units become incredibly slow. The campaign was fun and the daily challenges are nice as they give you a type of refreshing look on the game but the pay off isn't worth it. Multiplayer is horrible giving someone an additional 2 health doesn't help them against an opponent with much better cards at all turns it just drags out the frustration of the one-sidedness of each battle. Thought the game would be epic but it seems to be just another Play2Win. Shame...

A game with a lot of potential, but fails to deliver as much as I had hoped.

+Great Gameplay
+Wide variety of characters.

- AI gets ridiculously overpowering too fast.
- Rate at which you can buy new troops is horrible; basically a pay2win.
- Very low replayability factor.
- Multiplayer pool very low.

if you got inspired by League and TF2 for this game, you should've noted the important factor of being a pay2win. No one likes that [most people actually openly despise it] and almost no one is going to spend their hard earned money on a smallscale game like this. Sure, donations are always given to aspiring game developers who make a real good game, but that's as far as you're gonna go until you get this game to a much, much higher level.

A really fun and excellent game, but SERIOUSLY limited with the lack of other players in the multiplayerverse. I would happily keep playing against the computer, except the ghost matches get to a ridiculous stage of only allowing one hit against me - which is impossible!
