Wi/Ht Members Vs. Mods 2004-08-20 05:34:15

Are you intrested in being a Wi/Ht member? or Mod? Do you have what it takes? If you are intrested in become either one, you may find this information fascinating.

These are averages of all users in the categories.

It is a Tie. Mod: 7 WH: 7

I was reading the Wi/Ht forum and noticed a lot of people wanting to be a member. Since it is only 20 people strong (depending on if there is an election), it seems to be pretty hard to join.

There is also the coveted moderator title which seems to also be difficult to join. As of right now, there are only 23 mods here on the forums.

Realisticly, both are dependent on how much you contribute to the BBS, but its still fun to see them both in perspective.

So which one seems to be easier to be a part of?

It only took an hour or two...

I was gonna post this in the Wi/Ht Memberlist thread, but only a few people post there, and this was sort of off topic...

Hmmm....Quite interesting, i wonder what the new Wi/Ht member will bring to this table, i think maybe they could win on average posts if it was a high poster. But yet again, most Wi/Ht members are real blammers and savers, so it could be difficult. And the easier to get into is definetly the Wi/Ht memers, although that is extremely tough aswell. I think MrX can bring something to the list, but thats just my opinion :P

Just think though, if you had joined the Wi/Ht club when you could have, you would have swung the list to their favour, with your posts, Diety whistle and blams and saves.

If the average experience of the Mods is 600 higher than the average of Wi/Ht?, wouldn't it make more senser that their average experience rank is lower?

To be honest D0GMA i think its average experience points gained between the mods, therefore making them a stronger team. Dont hold to this though.

Gloating on your Deity Whistle huh? :)

Out of all members on both lists:

Normal Whistles: 4
Bronze Whistles: 2
Silver Whistles: 34
Gold Whistles: 0
Deity Whistles: YOU!

Hell, you couldn't even sell a silver whistle around here...they are like pennies.

I realize that, which is why I question the second listing. If the Average experience of the Wi/Ht? member is 6000, their average experience ranking is 490, and the average experience of the Mods is 6500 ... why is their experience ranking higher than the ranking of Wi/Ht?

The more experience you have, the lower your experience ranking.

I'm also not entirely clear on how the Wi/Ht? memeber average experience is 6000, but their average ranking is 490. I crossed 5k XP this morning and my rank is 373. Granted, there is a lot drag down to the average ranking from lower amounts of experience, as there's a lot more people clustered between the average and, say 3k XP, but my instinct is that that's a bit much. ryan_810 has 6,010 XP and is ranked 231, so we're talking a drop of 260 rankings ...

Here is a good example of why the Exp Rank (and BP Rank) isn't that accurate in this list (which is based solely on averaging all the numbers from the column and dividing by the number of members).

Lets take two Mods (This might not be accurate as of today):
................................Exp.......Exp Rank
TheJoe324 8848 86
theRedFUNK 854 9045
------------------------------------------------
..............................4851...........4566

Now you know someone who has 4851 exp is definitely not ranked at #4566 out of 570,000+ people.

Remember the ranks are graded on a huge curve.

I'm pretty sure he took the Ranks themselves and averaged them...

With us having like... 3 level 9s, 3 level 12s, a level 10 or two and they're ranked in the thousands (I think someone is like... #9000+) and you guys having like... a level 10-12 or two, that's only 1 or 2 with around #1000 and the rest just around 14-19, you have a lot of 200's, 300's and so which keep it low.

Thanks guys. Like I said above, I figured there was some drag down going on from the lower level users in each group, but I thought that was a bit much. Guess not ^^

Response to Wi/Ht Members Vs. Mods 2004-08-20 07:31:28

Actually I kinda like my method.

It shows that a few people can really hurt the group.

The Mod's Average BP Rank really suffers because of a few people. For instance, DanMalo's 28 total BP points (ranked at 25,786) and 64killerbyte's 38 total BP points (ranked at 22,966) really bring the group down (or up :D).

Here's another interesting stat.

Average Sign-up Date (By days):

Mods have had their accounts at an average of 1182 days.

Wi/Ht members have had their accounts at an average of 960 days.

If I did my math correctly with days in a month and such... The average sign up date for:

Mods: 05/26/01
Wi/Ht: 01/03/02

WORK IN NOTEPAD/CALCULATOR = FUN FOR ME

Still a chunk of time spent.

Are you like spying on me? Yeah, you will see the whole list in notepad, with the calculator right above it on my comp :)

It's times like these I wish I could actually go to sleep more..

Well, I have been up all night, so I feel ya. :)

I just wanted to point out that stickers and music submissions are by far the lowest stats here...

Only 6 out of 39 Mods/Wi/Ht have submitted any music.
Only 4 out of 39 Mods/Wi/Ht have bought stickers.

If you want to be more active than the Mods/Wi/Ht's at something:

Buy some stickers!
Submit some music!

what exactly is the role of the "whereis/how to member"?

I am really not sure. It's just that club here. All of em seem to be high leveled and dedicated. Hard to join. Eh, ask MPA (who was the last member to join) about it.

Well, I had compiled the Mod side of the list right before I started reading the Wi/Ht Memberlist thread. There were a lot of people (j00bie, BounsStage, etc) who were inquiring about being members. I noticed that they (Wi/Ht) had only 19 members, which was pretty close to the number of Mods. So, I thought I would compare the two, and prove to these people that the chances of being a Mod were greater than being a Wi/Ht just for kicks.

You are welcome :) I though you all would appreciate knowing your strengths and weaknesses as a whole.

At 8/20/04 01:54 PM, -VaLo- wrote: Those are some really interesting stats.

Thanks :-)

I didn't know the mod VP would be so high.

For what it's worth, it should also be noted that gfoxcook, jonthomson, and Dobica are part of both lists... bastards... :-P

I know these lists don't mean much to me yet ;-) , but they are good goals for n00bs (like myself) to have.

A bit cheeky, isn't it, doing B/P total, Blams and Saves, which give the Wi/Ht members 3 categories, when that's surely double counting? Interesting list though, although purely academic for me as I'm highly unlikely to make it into either category...

Response to Wi/Ht Members Vs. Mods 2004-08-20 16:01:59

So in order to be a "WI/HT member" you have to have a high level and help people out on the message board and post stats... anybody could do that even if they aren't a high level.

You have to be nominated. You know that.

You seem to help a lot of people though...why aren't you a member? I think that you would be an excellent candidate for that club. I see you helping out people all over the place. And you have been around long enough. Just a thought...
