Reviews for "Orbital Decay"

played it mostly on armorgames

I agree that the difference in difficulty between easy and normal is too great. It's almost impossible to lose on easy unless you're doing absolutley nothing. Normal is very challenging. A little too challenging, but I have beaten it, though not consistently.

Upgrading the main cannon pays good divedends. Swatting fighters out of the sky with one shot prevents them from causing any damage in the first place.

I do repair drones next, starting with maxing total number of drones.

I tend to shy away from using a lot of missile turrets. They're the most expensive turret, the missiles aren't very agile and they aren't "smart" enough to go after non-agile enemies.

I've been loading the entire front of the ship with flak cannons to clear mines and asteroids. Don't know if that's a good thing or not, I'm still experimenting with defensive loadouts.

Speaking of those, mines and asteroids cause a crap-load of damage, make them high-priority targets. Mines will chase fighters. I've had fighters that were close the ship slam a whole butt-load of mines into the ship, killing me.

Warning on reloading: If you die and restart, you restart with no fighters and no repair drones. The bays need time to produce them, so at the very beginning of the restart, you've got zero repairs going on.

I'm ambivalent about fighters. Sometimes they help, sometimes they don't. Remember that upgrading an existing bay from 1 fighter to 2 fighters costs 100 RU, building a brand new level 1 bay cost 150 RU.

Good but 2 hard at medium

I dont know, i changed my tactics a lot, but at medium this game is impossible! Someone tell me how its possible, i dont know, really - on easy its again 2 simple... please - better balancing - on hard it would be even more frustrating - i never tried ;)

Fabulous!!

Now, THIS is what a good Space Game should be! Great "Space Opera" storyline, well-thought weapons systems, nicely designed graphis, responsive gameplay, and intriguing plot for a sequel.

My only gripe is that, by the time one reach the end of the game, most systems are still liable for upgrades. Too much cost, really. And since the final enemy takes a lot of damage, a player can't really sell anything in order to build more weapons. But that's me, since I LOVE to have an ûber-dreadnought to fight against enemy fleets! KILL! CRUSH! SMASH! DESTROY! ANNIHILATE! OBLITERATE!

(Ahem) Anyway, my favorite tac here is: have 2-3 flak guns spread all over the ship, fill the rest with rockets, and beef up the fighters to the max- And fully upgrade the repair drones and the main gun. Guaranteed survival there!

And for the sequel... how about new kinds of weapons? A choice between MIRV rockets and seeking missiles would be nice. And change the lasers for plasma guns. Or how about having the option of charging the main gun for one big blast a-la Battlecruiser Yamato for a full screen-wide wave of destruction?

I guess that's all. Thanks for an enjoyable gaming experience, and hope to see a sequel in the nearby future. Keep 'em coming!!!

Wow...

This game is really good. I like the storyline, the upgrades, the difficulty, the graphics... you don't have any really annoying music :) ...

I hope to see a sequel.

I have one question though, is it even possible to beat the game on the hardest difficulty level without cheating?

this game is soooo freakin awesome!!!11!!!1

cant wait for the next one
