Reviews for "You Are Disabled"

Pros:
Platforming mechanics seem fairly good all-round.

Puzzles are (with one or two exceptions) timed so that when you respawn after dying you can get back to doing the puzzle right away, helping to keep the gameplay flowing...

Cons:
...However said flow doesn't fully hide/make up for the fact that most of the levels (especially the later ones) are just busywork ("Go jump between these 4-8 disappearing platforms for 3 minutes and the barrier to the exit will fade for a second"), and as a result take far longer to do than you'd think a room of their size would take.

Overall:
Fairly good platformer that uses its message as a framework rather than a defense against criticism, but starts to feel drawn out towards the end. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel that has a bit more time spent on it and slightly fewer of the aforementioned "go between the same few platforms for 3 minutes" rooms.

I got a strong political vibe from this, especially after reading the "Give me your poor, your tired..." sign. But tell me, in what way does a disabled person have less of an effect in today's world as opposed to someone who is "normal"? Do you have any clue how many people out there that are disabled have/do so much better than "normal" people? Ludwig von Beethoven, Vincent Van Gogh, Stephen Hawking, Alexander Graham Bell, Agatha Christie, HELLEN KELLER! The list goes on and on and on...

The reason I say "normal" because there is no one out there that is without a disability, be it physical or mental. I have forms of both, yet here I am playing this game that I feel bashes that. Yes, I reached the ending, but that is no solace to me. I don't know who you were trying to get at specifically, but you ended up making it look like a message to EVERYONE. I almost stopped playing when I played through with character that was lame. That was just a never ending barrage of bashing except one guy that said "I love you!".

That, however, is not how I rate games. If it was, you'd get 0 from me. Instead, it was a good attempt at a sort of Rogue Legacy type deal, especially for 72 hours. I have to agree with others though on the "spastic" character. I didn't even finish that character because I got way too agitated dying constantly without touching a single thing. Also, the text boxes where I had to keep pushing space bar over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over... you see what I'm getting at? Same with the text too. Don't just copy paste and make us click through it.

Anyways... 3 1/2 for effort and mostly fluid controls, but work on the finer things and I wouldn't mind giving you more.

my only problem with this game is that you can go backwards through levels. wich is a huge problem for the spastic disability. i keep trying to beat the verry last level with it but on ocasion i am brought back 3 levels at once and have to get through them again.

I dont know what to really say...Its a kind of sad and reflective game, But...It does fit the message of the game.

Got spastic my first time through, finally called it quits after incessant dying/spassing. Not a bad game but too frustrated to try the others.
