My PC was down, a short vacation is always nice, a week away from the dailydrag helped alot.

My =I= character is coming along nicely, I am not a master painter, so he'll be unassebled for quite some time. On my next GW store visit I'm going to get the rule book, seeing as I've done some research and I've seen all these skills listed without me knowing what they do, though I do like the sound of the 'Pariah' ability. But overall I've been thinking about how to play the game and my thoughts/feelings go out to the non-agressive style, with less shooting and more thinking, though I am not certain if that is always an option...

On the normal 40k front things are going great, with my Sisters army swelling with great additions such as the Immolator*! Makes me want to burn random stuff without any reason whatsoever!

(It should be noted at this point that GW won't be doing a seperate Sisters Rhino kit, seeing as the Immolator kit has the parts for a Sisters Rhino incorperated with the Immolator parts sprue.)

Ah great, just what we need!

I e-mailed the host on exterminatus.net and recieved an automated response which said that they didn't know what the problem was and had given up hope (or words to that effect), that's really disappointed me because exterminatus is one of the best ways to learn about =][= and discuss any ideas or thoughts you might have. There were a few up-and-coming sculpters there too.

I'm sure that other =][= forum sites are functioning somewhere though.

As a 40k side note; the Lord of the rings gaurd of minas tirrith (the one with the trees on thier sheilds) are in the scale of gaurdsmen in relation to marines!

Say vanilla Marines versus basic Tau with Kroot?

Then I would go with the Marines, they could easily tear them a new asshole. Marines can easily survive most of what the Tau toss at them, add to that the fact that Tau can't fight in close combat, presto! Instant carnage!

And -Snare-, welcome aboard!

Surely the Tau should be able to program some machines to do close combat

Thats why they have Kroot mercs.

Tau with Kroot mercs aren't that strong, but an pure Kroot merc force is master! An entire army of flesh eating, mutated bird beaked monsters comin' right at ya! (Don't forget that they get to field Great Knarlocs...)

Tau need their strength from fire power and fast moving. Think! They got the funky power armour with the weaponry! They got the flying tanks and transports! They got the powerful infantry based weaponry! They just lack the backbone to get into close combat and win, thats all...

Despite being an die-hard Imperial set out to kill everything non-Imperial, I like the Tau, it's the look and feel of their Tau units and vehicles. Kroot are also sweet, though they are a bitch to paint.

But anyways, if you think it's easy as an Marine to introduce mr. sword to the Tau, how about Guardsmen then, even they have an better WS then the Tau. This makes the Guard somewhat more tricky to counter with the Tau, because they can't:

1. Outshoot the Guard!
2. Outfight the Guard in the assault phase!

Tau need their fancy equipment and flying coffee machines, but I like them nonetheless.

+ + +

The 4th edition will hit the European shelves around September (Though I have no idea on the translated French and German versions, sorry guys.) and the American shelves one or two months later. Tied in with that release will be a new starters kit which will feature Space Marines and something else, me hopes Orks, seeing as Dark Eldar aren't a real starters force (No offence to any DE players!), besides Orks were in the 2nd edition starters kit, so why not. The starters kit will also have some new scenery and other stuff, some said a crashed shuttle or something.

Anyway, we shall see how this all works out.

Close combat for tau is a gaping hole of a weakness, they aren't too good in dense (vision obstructing) terrain, I find that battling the the tau is always interesting.

Although in my GW it's considered "cheating" for some reason, drybrushing is a great way to paint kroots. Just dark angels green and then a Goblin green drybrush. Simple.

And on a slightly unrelated note. WAHEY! It seems that exterminatus.net is slowly coming back into service. There was no problem, just an upgrade (although a little more warning would've been nice).

Kroot aren't the real close combat starlets either, while they can whoop arse, they have zero to no armour and are vulnerable to everything, even lasgun fire! Kroot are the favoured targets of Catachans in the jungle, a little flamer usage never hurt anyone!

Extermintus lives again! SHE LIVES! SHE IS ALIVE! ALIVE! Whoo, tomorrow I'll finally take my first steps into the dark and broody place!

Out come the claws!
(power claws!)

I've nearly finnished making my terminator assault squad look all special for their glorious death-charge.

Anyone else converted a squad a bit?

Lightning claws are good, heck any power weapon or weapon that either ignores armour saves or lowers them is good! Makes me wonder if GW will introduce the Horus styled lightning claw, the one with the storm bolter built on top, that would make for fine conversation and arse kicking!

When you got an squad of Termies lunbering towards you with just lightning claws you got some degree of protection, just gun them down, but when they got built in storm bolters or combi-bolters, that would make for an heavy assault squad.

Though many a gamer would grab a loaf of cheese and pluck his beard with dark and brooding eyes...

they do have the Marenus Calgar gauntlets, theyre power fists with storm bolters on the bottom of each - they would be pretty easy to convert.
