You shouldn't change who you are just because somebody wants you to be different. Be yourself. However, in relationships both partners should learn to compromise.

No, I don't know her in real life. But there's no such thing as having mastered giving people advice! At least, not without having studied a variety of issues for many years! At my age, I can give useful advice about self-defense, high-quality writing instruments, tactical folders, cellular companies, modern-day cars, practical info about the Law in America, private security procedures, and a few other things I would rather keep to myself. These are all things I've either studied or experienced in life. No offense, but I don't think 17 is old enough to speak with authority on a whole bunch of subjects.
